Job description

About this role

We are looking for an experienced Azure Cloud Monitoring Engineer to join our cloud operations team. In this role, you will be responsible for proactively monitoring and optimizing the performance, availability, and security of our Azure-based infrastructure and applications.


You will work closely with engineering, DevOps, and SRE teams to build intelligent monitoring systems, respond to incidents, and support continuous improvement across cloud environments.

Your responsibilities
  • Configure and manage Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and Network Watcher

  • Create dashboards and alerts to monitor health and performance of Azure services (VMs, AKS, App Services, Storage, Networking)

  • Ensure high availability and auto-scaling of cloud resources

  • Set up automated alerts and troubleshoot service outages, latency, and performance issues

  • Analyze logs using Kusto Query Language (KQL) and correlate patterns to detect anomalies

  • Integrate log data with SIEM tools like Azure Sentinel

  • Track and optimize Azure resource utilization; identify underused or idle assets

  • Recommend cost-saving strategies including Reserved Instances and Autoscaling

  • Monitor security and compliance using Defender for Cloud, Azure AD logs, and Sentinel

  • Automate monitoring configurations using Terraform, ARM, Bicep, PowerShell, or Azure CLI

  • Develop workflows with Azure Logic Apps or Functions for incident response

  • Collaborate with SRE, DevOps, and IT teams to improve system reliability

  • Generate regular reports on system health, incident trends, and cost efficiency

  • Perform post-incident reviews and document resolutions for future prevention

Your qualifications, skills and experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, Network Watcher

  • Proficiency in KQL, with experience in log correlation and custom query building

  • Familiarity with incident management tools (e.g., PagerDuty, Opsgenie) and ITIL best practices

  • Solid understanding of Azure networking, including VNets, Load Balancers, and Azure Firewall

  • Automation expertise with PowerShell, Python, Terraform, or Bicep

  • Knowledge of security frameworks and monitoring for compliance standards (NIST, SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR)
