As Ramp continues to scale, it is essential that the engineering team’s product velocity and quality matches our growth rate. To ensure this, we are looking for an energetic, opinionated, and technically sharp Program Manager to drive cross-cutting programs that deliver on this objective.
As a Technical Program Manager, you will run critical technical and cross-functional programs within the engineering organization and its stakeholder teams focused on:
Developer efficiency and productivity
Code quality and velocity
Platform scale to deliver on capacity, while obsessing over latency, UX delight, reliability and other KPIs
Incident management and response across CX and engineering teams
Your main engineering stakeholders will be:
The Ramp Engineering Platform team (responsible for the unified developer experience across CI/CD, release management, environments, and testing frameworks)
Security Engineering
Various Product Engineering teams
You will have the agency and the executive support to define specifications, create and execute plans across the teams, while matching Ramp’s high quality bar. The work is highly cross-functional, so strong communication, interpersonal and crisp organizational skills are key to the success in this role.
Own the successful definition, cross-functional strategy, planning and execution of large-scale technical programs that deliver on the engineering objectives of velocity, scale, reliability, support and developer experience
Understand the system architecture and technical components necessary for the successful delivery of the programs’ objectives
Ensure high-quality execution of projects in an effective manner
Partner with engineering leaders to define technical roadmaps, understand how multiple projects overlap and complement each other, and ensure the programs fit within the goals of the organization
Collaborate with lead engineers, engineering managers and other PMO groups to help communicate business and engineering strategies to the wider organization
Manage work and collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders across the whole company and externally (partners, customers, regulators, etc)
Some initial focus areas include (but are not limited to):
Technical programs driven by the Engineering Platform team (such as Production Engineering, CI/CD, infrastructure scaling, etc)
Cross-team Product Engineering programs (incident response, test coverage, product performance)
Compliance and regulatory programs execution across data, analytics and software engineering
Enterprise customer programs (in cases when enterprise customer requirements involve orchestrating a number of cross-functional teams to deliver on the business and product objectives)
Minimum 3 years of Technical Program Management experience preferred
Experience translating a high-level roadmap into a set of discrete technical projects, with a deep understanding of what it takes to build scalable and reliable systems
Ability to implement a broad program vision complemented by strong engineering and program management skills; experience overseeing and running technical programs, from planning to delivery
Experience in project management methodologies and practices (agile, but not only)
Experience leading multiple concurrent projects in an agile, fast-paced, frequently evolving environment
Ability to collaborate with engineers and stakeholders from outside the company on shared initiatives
Ability to drive consensus across various stakeholder groups
Experience building programs in a hyper-growth startup environment
For candidates located in NYC or SF, the pay range for this role is $160,000 - $220,900. For candidates located in all other locations, the pay range for this role is $144,000 - $198,750.
