Job description

The Assistant Vice President of Human Resources provides oversight and CHRO services to nonprofit organizations by executing contractual obligations, including managing multiple clients' full-cycle human resources functions, such as onboarding/offboarding, employment and funding compliance, people operations, recruitment, and benefits administration.

The AVP of HR also serves as a brand ambassador and thought leader of Quatrro and helps initiate, maintain, and develop relationships. 

This is a remote role; however, candidates must be based in California or have a strong knowledge of California employment law.

Responsibilities:

Direct Client Services (75%):

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned nonprofit clients, providing strategic human resources advice and guidance to support organizational objectives, including onboarding/offboarding, employment and funding compliance, people operations, recruitment, benefits administration, and union negotiations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including completing reporting checklists and audits.
  • Stay updated on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Oversee and administer benefits plans.
  • Deliver HR presentations to key client stakeholders such as the HR committee and the board of directors.
  • Support client dispute resolution.
  • Provides diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice consulting services in alignment with client mission and needs.
  • Facilitate HRIS implementation and support system transitions as necessary.
  • Review, implement, and update client personnel policy and procedures manuals to ensure compliance with applicable laws and client needs.
  • Lead compensation philosophy consulting and client compensation banding recommendations.
  • Oversee and support client learning and development in collaboration with client management.

Supervisory Responsibilities (20%):

  • Oversee team deliverables and execution of contractual obligations.
  • Manage the work of multiple staff members, providing mentoring, training, and professional development.
  • Review team performance and provide constructive feedback.

Other Duties and Responsibilities (5%):

  • Provide thought leadership through presentations on technical and management issues to organizations and prospective clients.
  • Support review and management of contract scope, pricing, and staffing to ensure the financial profitability of assigned engagements.
  • Engage and participate in the client's community and mission through various means, such as volunteer opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • A graduate degree in a related field is preferred.
  • SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP/PHR/SPHR, highly desired.
  • A minimum of ten years of senior human resource management experience.
  • Previous experience in the nonprofit industry, preferably in health and human service organizations, housing, mental health, or general human service organizations.
  • Experience with local, state, and federal programs in the areas of child and family services (OCFS), human services (OHS), or mental health services (SAMHSA) reporting and audit processes is highly desired.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation: Starting salary range: $145.000-190,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
