Job description

The FP&A GTM team is looking for a Financial Analyst to support Revenue planning and reporting as well as drive process improvements in this space. As a member of the ANZ team you will act as a trusted business partner and advisor to the various Sonos functional organizations within APAC. In this role you will be responsible for a variety of FP&A tasks including driving planning and forecasting processes with business partners, monthly & quarterly accounting close support and reporting for key stakeholders, revenue budget management, and financial model building. 

Additionally you will play a crucial role in reconciling and managing some accounting functions, particularly Accounts Receivable for our APAC entities, including Australia, New Zealand, and Japan, working with internal, external and outsourced stakeholders. A Hands-On role you will be responsible for month-end close analysis (contra, rebates, promotions), local BAS/GST statutory compliance and operational support for in-country accounting and finance matters for the wider APAC team. 

This position requires strong collaboration and communication with key partners, attention to detail, and the ability to take a thoughtful approach to projects. We are looking for a candidate with the ability to jump right in and who has an inclination to teach and help others as well as a willingness to learn. 

What You’ll Do

  • Support the annual planning and monthly forecasting process with business partners; maintain planning calendar deadlines, user templates, and manage Anaplan inputs.

  • Partner with the Accounting team at each month and quarter-end to ensure accurate accruals for key revenue recognition, contra items and analyze accuracy of results compared to forecast.

  • Partner with Finance & Demand Planning teams to create tools and reports that allow for more streamlined forecasting, accurate reporting, and better insight; contribute to system enhancements or new system implementations.

  • Identify and lead process improvement opportunities across FP&A, Accounting, and other partners to improve efficiency, reporting and performance.

  • Validate month-end account balances through detailed review of account reconciliations and journal entries

  • Support income, indirect and other various tax processes, including working with 3rd parties on assessments and other projects

  • Ad hoc projects supporting key business partners within the teams you support.


 

What You’ll Need

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business or similar field

  • Minimum of 2+ years progressive experience working in FP&A, accounting, consulting or banking 

  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets modeling and analysis skills,ability to analyze and summarize large data sets and make recommendations based on the data.  

  • Financial experience should include general knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles and accrual accounting, full P&L familiarity, and budget management exposure

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of or experience with FP&A business partnering in a consumer electronics or other retail company (Contractual Rebates, MDF, Promotions)

  • Critical Thinking & Analysis - Ability to look at situations and data from multiple perspectives, synthesize and evaluate what is useful for forecasting. 

  • Problem Solving - Ability to identify and frame problems logically, clearly and apply reasoning to break problems down and identify a solution or path forward. 

  • Customer Orientation - Proven ability to work cross functionally and experience communicating with or presenting to people at all levels of the organization with varying levels of financial literacy.

  • Experience working at a consumer product or manufacturing focused multinational consumer company.

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and collaboration tools

  • Knowledge of Local and International taxes and regulations (AU/NZ BAS, GST, PAYG, Payroll taxes, Workcover etc)

  • Previous experience using Anaplan (or similar cloud forecasting tool), SAP and scalable dashboarding tools (i.e. Tableau, Microstrategy, etc.), basic SQL knowledge

  • Experience with SAP (S4/Hana) process order management and controls for Revenue Recognition

  • Self-starter with right time first mentality, high integrity, intellectual curiosity, self-aware and humble attitude

It's a remote role, but preference would be Melbourne or Sydney.
