At Humana, our AI and Machine learning development is done within the Azure ecosystem of data services. Our stack includes components like Azure OpenAI, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake Store, EventHub, Azure Synapse, Kubernetes, and Azure DevOps. Python is the language of choice on this team and allows for quick pivots between tasks like model inference microservice development and PySpark streaming jobs.
Key Responsibilities:
Application Development: Collaborate with data scientists and stakeholders to develop applications that effectively process data and leverage GenAI LLMs, ensuring scalability and high performance.
Model Integration: Work with Generative AI models and technologies such as Azure OpenAI, Langfuse, LangGraph, and Kubernetes to integrate these models into our applications for enhanced functionality.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Engage with product managers, data scientists, and other engineering teams to understand requirements and deliver technical solutions that meet business objectives.
Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor, evaluate, and optimize the performance of applications, implementing best practices in observability and monitoring for both application and model performance.
Innovation and Strategy Influence: Develop software tools that utilize GenAI, machine learning, and big data techniques to transform data into actionable insights, influencing the Humana’s strategy and direction.
Documentation and Best Practices: Maintain clear documentation of engineering processes and promote best practices within the team to ensure knowledge sharing and consistency.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Azure ecosystem.
At least 5 years of experience in Python programming.
Proven experience with Generative AI technologies such as Azure OpenAI, Langfuse, Langgraph, Agentic workflows or similar tools.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of distributed version control systems (e.g., Git).
Experience in designing and building distributed system architectures.
Familiarity with tools and technologies including EventHub, Kafka, Kubernetes, Azure DevOps and MongoDB.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a strong emphasis on collaboration and follow-up.
Ability to learn new technologies quickly and validate assumptions through rapid proofs of concept.
Work-At-Home Requirements
WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high-speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.
A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.
Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
