Get to Know the Opportunity:

We are seeking the perfect blend of creative thinking, combined with proven ‘hands-on’ ability to write emotive B2B content across multiple mediums. Ultimately this role is about visualizing and developing content across multiple touch points with a heavy focus on digital. It’s a hands-on role with a mix of creative storytelling, collaborating, brainstorming, transforming ideas into words and managing projects and freelancers.  

The Contributions You'll Make:

  • Responsible for identifying and conceptualizing story ideas on a broad range of topics for a variety of channels and turning those into compelling narratives.
  • Work closely with stakeholders, marketing team and designers to assess needs and opportunities, develop editorial calendar and deliver consistently against the plan.
  • Expert in the creation of content and content lengths required for various formats (blogs, ebooks, infographics, reports) and mediums including print, presentations, web, email.
  • Optimize content for SEO.
  • Manage team of freelancer writers including timelines and priorities.
  • Works with stakeholders and team to understand tone as well as specific needs of audiences.
  • Research competitors and keep abreast of market trends.
  • Explore different ideas and concepts for both the visual and verbal elements in tandem with the creative team.
  • Develop standard work and processes including requesting, developing and measuring ongoing effectiveness of marketing communications.
  • Adopts, utilizes and role models the Benefitfocus/Voya Management System as part of everyday activities to drive behavior, facilitate and foster team collaboration & empowerment, and promote a problem-solving culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing Communications, Journalism, English or related degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 4 - 6 years professional experience beyond education.
  • Experience writing for HR benefits audience preferred (benefits administration, voluntary benefits, health care, health accounts, etc.).
  • Creativity: You will need to create original work and develop ideas around your chosen themes.
  • Determination: Some assignments can take a long time to finish or may require feedback from many stakeholders.
  • Persuasion: Need to know how to write persuasively and in some cases, defend their creative choices.
  • Social Perceptiveness: Content Managers need to have their finger on the pulse, so that their copy is relevant and modern, and understand how people will react to their writing.
  • Writing Skills: Need to write well: with proper tone, feeling, sentence structure and emotion. Grammar counts!
  • Requires a high level of creativity, attention to detail, and strong organization and project management skills.
  • Present a portfolio of exceptional self-created writing output.

Compensation Pay Disclosure:

Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.

The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya may offer incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

$75,230 - $94,040 USD
