Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Department: Engineering
Location: REMOTE with some travel
(Must be a U.S. Citizen and live east of the Mississippi River; preferably as close to Charlotte, NC as possible)

Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering principles and practices, with a focus on design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and components. As an Electrical Engineer at GWC, you will play a key role in designing cutting-edge solutions that meet the needs of our clients and contribute to the advancement of our projects.


Our clientele includes a wide range of industries, from lithium hydroxide manufacturers to producers of aircraft carriers for the US Navy and everything in between. These clients demand the highest standards of quality and precision. Therefore, we require our engineers and designers to be fully committed to our Quality Assurance Program (QAP).

 


Key Responsibilities:


  • Design and Development:
    Create detailed electrical designs, schematics, and system layouts for various projects. Develop and test electrical systems and components to ensure they meet performance and safety standards.
  • Project Management:
    Manage and oversee electrical engineering projects from concept through completion. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all quality and safety requirements.
  • Problem Solving:
    Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues and failures. Perform root cause analysis and implement effective solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with other project components.
  • Documentation:
    Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of electrical designs, specifications, and test results. Create and update project reports and technical documentation as needed.
  • Compliance:
    Ensure all electrical systems and designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety codes. Stay current with advancements in electrical engineering practices and technologies.
     


Qualifications/Requirements/E ducation: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
    Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to become licensed in multiple states.
  • Ability to lead and execute engineering/design projects for power distribution up to 13.8kV
  • Experienced with AutoCAD.
  • Willing to travel to client facilities (by air or car).


Experience:
  • 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, including experience with electrical power distribution (12VDC and 120V AC to 4kV AC) design, PLC & HMI development (AB/CompactLogix), and troubleshooting.

Skills:
  • Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP), knowledge of PLC controls systems (e.g. Rockwell, Siemens, GE), strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Knowledge:
  • In-depth understanding of electrical power systems, components, and principles. Ability to develop PLCs, HMIs, and electrical power distribution systems and familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.

Communication:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with low and medium voltage power systems, PLCs, Rockwell Automation, GE Controls, and HMIs.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code, NFPA, and good programming practices.



Working Conditions
  • This position routinely operates in an office environment with occasional travel to client sites.
  • Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week.
