CooperVision is recruiting a Principal Engineer – Product & Process Sustainability is a key role in the Science and Sustainability Group within the Global Technical Innovations Group (GTIG) at CooperVision. The role is focused on designing, implementing, and optimizing technologies that reduce environmental impact, improve energy, and resource efficiency, and align with circular economy principles in the context of CooperVision goals. This role requires expertise in process engineering, sustainability frameworks, and technological innovation. Position is based in Juana Diaz, PR.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities
Develop and optimize processes to minimize energy use, water consumption, waste generation, and carbon footprint.
Evaluate and implement renewable energy technologies, circular resource systems, and other sustainable solutions in production facilities.
Research and deploy cutting-edge technologies to improve process efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Facilitate concept development, problem resolution and root cause analysis during developments.
Develop, coordinate, and execute engineering studies upon objectives and requirements.
Collaborate with other functions teams to incorporate sustainability into new product designs, facilities, and manufacturing systems.
Leads the introduction of new equipment, technology, systems and processes.
Conduct lifecycle assessments (LCAs) to measure the environmental impact of processes and products.
Monitor, analyze, and report sustainability metrics such as energy use, emissions, and waste reduction.
Stay informed of global trends and policy changes affecting sustainable manufacturing.
Identify opportunities for process improvements that align with sustainability goals.
Implement lean manufacturing practices and technologies to reduce waste and inefficiency.
Partner with stakeholders across engineering, operations, and supply chain to drive sustainability initiatives.
Provide technical guidance and training to teams on sustainable engineering practices.
Lead pilot projects for new sustainability-focused technologies and assess their scalability.
Develop and execute strategies to achieve long-term sustainability targets.
Collaborate with suppliers and customers to promote sustainable practices throughout the value chain.
Represent the organization in sustainability-focused forums, conferences, and collaborations.
Excellent computer literacy, with experience analyzing, reporting, and summarizing data.
Communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of internal customers at all levels within the company.
Demonstrated project management experience, with the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Manages multiple and/or changing priorities with good organizational and time management skills.
Demonstrated ongoing awareness, interest, and passion for sustainability best practices.

Experience:
Eight (8) years of related experience required.
Proven experience with implementing sustainability initiatives, process optimization, process engineering, sustainability frameworks and overall tech innovation.
Proven experience with implementing carbon reduction, circular design and process improvement initiatives including conducting lifecycle assessments (LCAs) to measure the environmental impact of processes and products.
Experience in pharmaceutical or medical device and manufacturing environment preferred.
Experience and exposure to R&D, process development, and/or product development.
Advanced (graduate) degree in Engineering preferred.
