The Virtual Care Medical Assistant will serve as the bridge-builder between the patient and the Virtual Primary Care Physician and will be the first point of contact for patient care. Responsible for administrative duties in addition to patient care. Acts as the patient’s primary point of contact to navigate their healthcare journey, responding to questions, appropriately and expeditiously escalating clinical concerns, and ensuring patients and families feel supported by and connected to the care team at all times. The Virtual Care Medical Assistant performs advanced administrative/operational/customer support duties that require independent initiative and judgment. May apply intermediate mathematical skills.

The Virtual Care Medical Assistant builds relationships with patients and their families and welcomes them into the Virtual First Program by facilitating a nimble onboarding process that includes patient-centered goal solicitation, initial biopsychosocial assessment, and rapid delivery on patient requests. Performs clinical duties including completion of clinical chart reviews, discussing symptoms and gathering and inputting information into the electronic medical records system, identifies key clinical information in past medical records, specialist and diagnostic reports, and documents patient information and vitals in the electronic medical record (EMR). Collaborates closely with Virtual Physician and care support team. Delivers patient care dependent on what active certification allows. Decisions typically focus on methods, tactics and processes for completing administrative tasks/projects. Regularly exercises discretion and judgment in prioritizing requests and interpreting and adapting procedures, processes and techniques, and works under limited guidance due to previous experience/breadth and depth of knowledge of administrative processes and organizational knowledge.

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Successful completion of MA school/training program or a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or 5+ years of experience and approval from Provider
  • 2 years or more of Medical Assistant experience with direct patient care
  • Experience in a fast-paced/high-volume environment
  • A unique combination of skills including empathy, listening, customer service, critical thinking, tech savviness, problem solving and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technology proficiency, including email, video conferencing technology, and mobile apps
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Must be a team player with excellent communication skills
  • Experience with MS Outlook
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with HEDIS/Stars knowledge preferred
  • Ability to utilize behavior change techniques, including motivational interviewing, to help patients identify, understand, and follow through on targeted goals
  • Experience working in a value-based care setting
  • Current CPR certification

Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
