The AAMC IT team is looking for a detail-oriented, customer experience focused Business Data Analyst to help support our modernization effort.
This requirement is in the Data & Insight team within the Enterprise Applications group at the AAMC. The individual in this role will support the modernization project to launch a modernized product on AWS. This individual will manage and maintain functional and design specifications by tracking business requirements for initiatives that support the strategic objectives of the Association. This individual will gain experience by supporting the life cycle of an IT system modernization. This individual will support functional testing, including end-to-end data testing, and support verifying the data synchronization process between legacy and modernized systems per defined testing scenarios.
The individual in this position partners with the functional groups within the business organization to maintain and document requirement changes and then communicates and clarifies business needs to all relevant stakeholders. The individual is expected to assess user needs utilizing industry standard model-driven analysis techniques and a structured requirements process via approved processes, templates and tools throughout the software development life cycle.
How Will You Make An Impact
1. Perform a data-focused requirements analysis:
Work with PM, business stakeholders, and vendors to establish baseline expectations for requirements relatedto project deliverables.
Work closely with business stakeholders, vendors, architects, and others as necessary to create the required documentation.
Provide the required input in determining scope changes of requirements based on project scope and objectives.
Capture, define, analyze, and translate functional and non-functional business requirements into system user stories/ use cases and requirements specifications that contribute to effective software development.
Elicitation, creation, and review of requirements, use cases, and other artifacts and communicate requirements to the customer and vendor. Analyze requirements from all actor/user perspectives and identify alternative paths. Translate business needs into requirements specifications.
2. Provide an effective liaison between business stakeholders, vendors, and IT to provide requirements clarification support
Maintain and track user stories/use cases and requirements specifications through the software development life cycle.
Communicate and collaborate with the Business, vendors, and IT (including architects, tech leads, developers, testers, and operation teams).
Provide support on clarification of requirements to the vendor, AAMC developers and QA to ensure they fully understand and correctly interpret them.
Facilitate effective and timely communication of defect-related work that will be identified during the QA activities, cut-over planning, and launch by engaging appropriate representatives from Business, vendor,r and IT project members and assisting them in reaching the optimal resolution.
Facilitate the execution of the change request process to manage requirements changes affecting baseline requirements.
3. This individual will provide support in the following data-related aspects,
Support functional testing, including end-to-end data testing.
Support verifying the data synchronization process between legacy and modernized systems per defined testing scenarios.
Support UAT testing
Data verification before system cut-over
Defect follow-up and coordination, retesting
Provide coordination between business stakeholders and off-shore dev MT team (to resolve time zone challenges, 10.5 hours difference). This person must have the flexibility to work occasionally starting 10:30pm EST for 1-2 hours, or starting at 6am EST. This is critical during UAT defect fixing phase to close the development and to achieve UAT sign-off, and during the launch phase to ensure timely response to business needs.
What will you bring to the role
Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Business Data Analyst
Experience with data analytics, reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI, is a big plus
PL/SQL experience is a big plus
Strong Interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must
Strong time management skills are a must as you will be working on multiple project tracks.
Experience working in an agile team is required. Any experience with distributed teams is a big plus
Strong skills to define product acceptance criteria
Able to perform end-to-end data-focused testing/verification based on defined business data scenarios
Able to identify and articulate existing/as-is process models while identifying aspects of data and technology actions needed to accomplish the desired end state
Ability to create feature roadmaps with priorities in collaboration with business groups by facilitating consensus on project objectives, assumptions, and constraints amongst stakeholders
Experience working with remotely located teams is desirable but not required
