Wage Range: $139,526 - $223,246 per year
Posted wage ranges represent the entire range from minimum to maximum. For jobs with more than one level, the posted range reflects the minimum of the lowest level and the maximum of the highest level. Some positions also offer additional premiums based on shift, certifications or degrees. Job offers are determined based on a candidate's years of relevant experience, level of education and internal equity.
Job Summary:
Utilizes clinical expertise and pharmacist work experience to participate in design, specification, build, testing, go-live, and long-term support, and evaluation of the Epic Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Serves as a subject matter expert in Willow and Beacon applications and provides project support in these applications. Specializes in the medication use process in Epic, from ordering to administration, and is responsible for effective process design, development, and implementation in Willow and Beacon applications. Supports pharmacists, providers, nurses, and other end-users as the resource for requests related to EMR and pharmacy system changes and additions. Provides EMR-related staff education and training.
Primary Duties:
- Develop, build, test, and troubleshoot medication related work within the Epic Willow suite of solutions, including how medications integrate to automated dispensing cabinets and infusion smart pumps
- Work collaboratively with Epic team members, IT analysts, medical staff, nursing, and pharmacy for integrated solutions
- Maintenance work to include medication builds, order sets, formulary changes, order sentences, clinical decision support, pharmacy clinical note creation and optimization, and CPOE-related medication changes
- Liaison between pharmacy and IT
- Attend and participate in applicable committees
- Serve as a member on the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committee. Assist in the design, development and implementation of order sets and other clinical decision support tools needed for implementing P&T decisions. P&T membership may be on a rotational basis or one designated for P&T if there is more than one Epic Willow pharmacist.
- Champion optimizations and enhancements as they become available from Epic
- Provide IT solutions and services that contribute to medication safety and patient care
- Perform other duties as assigned
License, Certification, Education or Experience:
REQUIRED for the position:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy
- Current Washington State pharmacist license
- PharmD and Epic Willow Inpatient certification required.
- 2+ years of practice experience in a hospital pharmacy or ambulatory pharmacy setting
- 2+ years of experience supporting pharmacy applications or experience in a clinical pharmacy Epic certified in modules supported or receive certification within 6 months from hire
- Demonstrated ability to work with and facilitate multidisciplinary clinician groups as part of a clinical information system implementation
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills and knowledge of customer service principles
- Interest and aptitude in information technology
- Ability to work independently and in teams with representatives from multiple departments
- Setting exceptional aptitude or knowledge may be considered in lieu of experience
- Participation in on call rotation
DESIRED for the position:
- Previous experience with pharmacy software configuration, testing, and implementation
- Experience training others
- Completion of one-year hospital pharmacy practice residency
- Current board certification recognized by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties
