About the Role:

This is a first-of-its-kind role at Deel. We're seeking an inquisitive, pro-active and driven Economist. You will help shape the research and economic function at Deel, building our narrative on global work and its benefits using a dataset which includes information around salaries across 150+ countries, job growth by sector and title, generational trends, currency trends, and insight around layoffs.
You will help shape the Deel's editorial research function, cementing our POV on global work and its benefits using a global data set on work which includes information around including salaries across 150+ countries, job growth by sector and title, generational trends, currency trends, and insight around layoffs.
In this role you will create compelling narratives and timely analyses that illuminate the dynamic landscape of global organizations and workers, working with Deel’s data team, as well as the communications team. You will be supported in amplifying your findings through press, social media, and content initiatives, but must be driven to identify compelling and timely trends within the data.
This role has the potential to grow and serve both our customers and the public with timely, data-backed insights on the global work landscape.
Responsibilities:
Level up our Public Reports
Do the analysis and construct the narrative for our annual public reports, like the Global Hiring Report, the Global Compensation Report and the Trends in AI report.
Translate research findings into compelling reports, articles, and presentations for public consumption.
Work with the Data team to improve the quality of our public reporting datasets and remove any biases
Economic Research
Develop a research roadmap that leverages Deel's unique dataset to generate original and impactful insights.
Establish and maintain rigorous research methodologies and best practices for data analysis and interpretation.
Build partnerships with academic institutions
Viral Content Generation
Collaborate with the communications team to amplify research findings through press, social media, and content marketing.
Create data-driven content optimized for social media and press relationships.
Customer Tooling
Help develop data tools for HR teams, founders of current and potential customers that allow them to navigate the world of global work more effectively, like our Salary Insights Tool.
Strategic collaborations
Build and maintain relationships with external researchers, partner companies, and industry experts.
Establish and cultivate partnerships with academic institutions, research organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications:
You have at least 4 years of experience working in an analytics or data science role.
You are fluent in SQL and Python.
You are deeply curious about the world and how it works. You enjoy looking at things through a macro-lense.
Track record of conducting original research on labor markets, globalization, or related topics.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data into compelling narratives
Experience working with data analysis tools and platforms.
A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, with a passion for shaping the future of work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with global employment data.
Familiarity with international labor laws and regulations.
Established network of contacts in the research, policy, and media communities.
