Job Purpose:

We are looking for a Data Modeler specialized in Google BigQuery to design scalable data warehouse models that drive impactful analytics. The right candidate has strong expertise in dimensional modeling, data architecture, and performance tuning.

You will also be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of our data models, as well as maintaining their documentation and metadata. Your expertise in data modeling tools and techniques, as well as your ability to communicate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders, will be critical to the success of our data-driven projects.


Job Details:

  • Location: 100% Remote - Open to candidates based in Central America, Mexico, or Colombia.
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CR Time Zone
  • Job Type: Full-Time Employment
  • Language Proficiency: Spanish: Advanced (Fluent) / English: C1 in reading, writing, and conversation
  • Availability: Immediate availability is preferible


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain complex data models for business data analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Create logical and physical data models tailored to cloud-native environments
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design appropriate data models that align with business needs.
  • Evaluate and recommend data modeling tools and technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy of data modeling processes.
  • Design dimensional models optimized for analytics workloads
  • Implement partitioning, clustering, and optimization strategies in BigQuery
  • Translate business needs into technical specifications and model documentation
  • Collaborate with data engineers and BI developers to ensure data integrity and usability
  • Apply best practices in metadata management, naming conventions, and data lineage
  • Identify and resolve data model performance issues to optimize database performance and enhance overall system functionality.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and trends in data modeling and incorporate new techniques and methodologies into our data modeling processes.


Required Academic Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Required Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in data modeling or data architecture, ideally in cloud-native environments
  • Expertise in Google BigQuery and modern cloud data warehouse solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift)
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and advanced data modeling techniques for analytics and reporting
  • Proven ability to design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models
  • Deep understanding of dimensional modeling, including star and snowflake schemas, OLAP modeling, and best practices for analytical performance
  • Solid experience in performance tuning and query optimization, especially for large-scale datasets in BigQuery
  • Familiarity with data vault, 3NF, and hybrid modeling patterns, and when to apply each
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and how data modeling aligns with data engineering pipelines
  • Skilled in metadata management, data lineage, and maintaining enterprise data dictionaries
  • Experience collaborating with data engineers, BI teams, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data models


Preferred Qualifications

  • Google Cloud certification (e.g., Professional Data Engineer, Professional Cloud Architect)
  • Familiarity with Dataform, dbt, or other data modeling version control tools on GCP
  • Hands-on experience with data cataloging and governance tools like GCP Data Catalog, Collibra, or Alation
  • Experience with Looker modeling (LookML) or other BI semantic layer tools

  • This role requires a advanced Spanish speaker with intermediate to advanced English proficiency (both written and verbal).
  • We are open to candidates based in Central America, Mexico, or Colombia.

Compensation$2500 per month
