What the role involves:
As a Community Manager, you play a key role in fostering and expanding the Cardano’ community in Japan. This position is responsible for developing relationships with local SPOs and DReps, creating opportunities for Japanese stakeholders to engage more deeply in Cardano’s governance, and ensuring effective communication between local developments and the broader global ecosystem. A successful Community Manager enhances the visibility of key stakeholders within the Japanese Cardano community and empowers more participants to contribute meaningfully to Cardano’s growth.
Community Engagement & Governance.
- Engagement Strategies: Develop and execute tailored initiatives (online events, meetups, AMAs, social media campaigns) for the Japanese community. Engage with key community members and maintain a regular reporting cadence.
- Governance Participation: Encourage Japanese stakeholders to join Cardano’s governance (e.g., explaining voting/proposal mechanics, highlighting success stories), and foster increased engagement.
- Continuous Learning: Keep current with Cardano and IO developments, ensuring timely and accurate communication to the Japanese community.
Content Creation & Localization
- Bilingual Content: Create or adapt high-quality, engaging content in Japanese and English, including blog posts, articles, forum discussions, and social media updates.
- Translation: Regularly translate critical announcements or documentation to ensure the Japanese community is informed of global developments—and vice versa.
- Local Spotlights: Produce feature stories (e.g., project spotlights, interviews) that showcase local contributors to the broader Cardano ecosystem.
Social Media & Moderation
- Platform Management: Manage and grow IOG presence on relevant Japanese platforms (Line, Twitter, Discord), ensuring culturally appropriate messaging and timely responses,
- Moderation: Maintain positive, respectful dialogue in forums and social channels. Address inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally, coordinating with internal teams or external moderators as needed.
Event Planning & Execution
- Online & Offline Events: Plan, attend, and coordinate spaces, workshops, and meetups (governance-focused, new feature demos, networking) to connect Japanese stakeholders.
- Community Integration: Encourage local participants to engage in global events and gatherings, boosting visibility and cross-community collaboration.
Collaboration & Relationship Building
- Internal & External Coordination: Work closely with the global team and other community managers to share best practices and ensure consistent messaging.
- Strategic Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key influencers, community leaders, and partners within the Japanese blockchain space.
- Advocacy: Act as a champion for local priorities, relaying critical feedback and opportunities back to the global team for further support or resources.
Reporting & Analysis
- Metrics & Sentiment: Track key community indicators (growth, engagement, sentiment) and compile regular reports.
- Feedback Loops: Gather both qualitative and quantitative insights on community sentiment, ecosystem health, and governance participation.
- Actionable Insights: Provide clear recommendations to the broader IO/IOG team on emerging issues, improvement areas, and knowledge gaps.
Requirements
Who you are:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a community or marketing role
- Solid knowledge and understanding of key social and community platforms in Japan (how each can be used to deliver commercial goals and develop organizational capability)
- At least 1 year of experience in the Cardano ecosystem, either professionally or as an active community member.
- Proven experience in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field.
- Experienced and confident in data-driven approaches, recognising how a creative idea translates into business value
- Good technical understanding of blockchain and crypto technologies and ecosystems. .
Language & Localization
- Fluent Japanese and English (written and spoken)
- Proven experience in translation and localization, adapting messages to culturally appropriate formats.
Community & Cultural Knowledge
- Familiarity with Japanese online forums, communities, and communication norms and existing network of contacts within the Japanese blockchain community
Blockchain / Web3 Expertise
- Understanding of Cardano, including staking mechanisms and governance structures.
- Awareness of the broader crypto landscape, especially in Japan.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation abilities.
- Comfortable collaborating independently and within teams.
- Skilled at using social media management tools and platforms.
Event Coordination & Reporting
- Strong time-management and organization skills; able to plan and execute events smoothly.
- Capable of producing data-informed reports on community sentiment, growth, and engagement metrics.
- Passionate about building and nurturing diverse online communities.
