The Opportunity

This position is part of the Abbott Molecular Diagnostic Division, which sells the Alinity M and reagents to healthcare facilities like hospitals, IDNs, reference labs, and women's health offices.

The Solutions Design Specialist will cover the Northeast (PA/NJ/NY/CT/RI/MA/VT/ME/NH), serving as the subject matter expert to support sales by creating technical designs that drive cost efficiencies, operational productivity, and improve patient care. This role involves developing and implementing automation, workflow, informatics, and professional services strategies for key strategic customers and national/regional health systems. The specialist will act as a laboratory workflow consultant and communication link to global and US marketing teams, initiate competitive comparisons to support business strategy, and build long-term relationships with internal and external customers.

What You’ll Work On

  • Serve as subject matter expert and consultant in automation, molecular diagnostics, lean laboratory workflow, and professional services.

  • Analyze customer data, conduct workflow assessments, and develop solutions design reports with insights and recommendations.

  • Share best practices to enhance molecular instrumentation functionality and customer satisfaction.

  • Ensure balanced performance across technical specialist teams in achieving molecular diagnostics lab closes and professional services revenue.

  • Create, standardize, and disseminate tools to support the Solution Design team and broader sales.

  • Act as liaison and provide input to global/US marketing, R&D, and Sales for product and process development and improvement.

  • Collaborate with marketing and product development teams to deliver voice-of-customer feedback and enhance Abbott Molecular solutions.

  • Stay informed about laboratory lean workflow, industry trends, market regulations, and healthcare policy within the defined customer segment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Strong automation, technical laboratory skills and lean laboratory workflow experience

  • 3+ years of experience in the healthcare industry

  • 2+ years of diagnostics and/or laboratory experience

  • Experience designing, selling and/or implementing multisite automation and informatics projects

  • Proficient in client facing demonstrations and presentations

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diagnostics experience strongly

  • Understand workflow and workflow improvement using Lean principles

  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification

  • Laboratory design experience

  • Strong understanding on how technology drives value in healthcare preferred

  • Experience with building business on current accounts and creating new profitable accounts

  • Understands IT technology within hospital environment

  • Ability to travel 60 to 70%

The base pay for this position is

$85,300.00 – $170,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
