Program Overview
Performs data analysis, investigation, and medical review to detect, prevent, deter, reduce, and make referrals to recover fraud, waste, and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid programs.
About The Role
We are looking to add a Medical Records Manager to our team of professionals.
The Medical Records Manager will be primarily responsible for ensuring adherence with the medical record request and receipt functions of the Comprehensive Error Rate Testing (CERT) program. Other responsibilities are to develop and implement policies and procedures for maintaining and managing medical records in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accreditation standards; monitor and evaluate technology and tools to identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance; develop and enforce protocols for record retention, release, and destruction, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements; and collaborate with leadership to ensure the security and integrity of electronic health records, including data backup, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity measures.
What you'll do:
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (such as ICD-10 and CPT), and healthcare documentation requirements.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare software applications.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to review and analyze complex medical records for completeness and compliance.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with healthcare providers, staff, and external entities.
Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to medical record management, including HIPAA and other privacy laws.
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and supervise a team.
Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
Ability to adapt to new technologies and stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
The Medical Records Manager will be in direct communication with the Program Director and provide technical assistance to the CMS CERT staff, as necessary.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
6 years of general related experience, which includes experience with electronic medical records and the electronic transmission of medical records
3 years of supervisory/managerial experience related to file and record management
Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator, and/or at CMS' discretion
Knowledge and working experience with the Medicare program
Knowledge and working experience with coding systems; ICD-10 and CPT
Knowledge and working experience with medical terminology
Telework available from the contiguous United States
US Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Master's Degree from an accredited institution and in a field of study that can be reasonably interpreted to perform tasks related to this position
Expert representational, oral, and written communication skills
Superior organizational and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interface effectively via written and oral forums with personnel at all levels of government
Expert skills using MS Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to effectively work independently and as a member of a team
Previous experience with CERT program preferred
The position is contingent pending contract award.*

Details
Target Salary Range: $80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
