Job Description:

Senior Director Quality, North America will be responsible to develop the overall Quality Improvement Strategy and lead the management team in the cross-functional adoption and execution of that strategy. In this strategic role, the Senior Director Quality, North America will be the leader in developing and maintaining a multi-site business/quality management system to improve operating efficiency, quality and productivity in the value chain, to improve customer satisfaction and increase profitability in a safe working environment within the local business.

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Continuously assess the overall Quality Management System, Quality Plan and Quality Organization to determine priorities for quality improvement.
  • Establish the key improvement priorities, and using a strategy deployment approach, develop and execute a cross-functional, strategic action plan across the Hub to drive improvement.
  • Identify the leading sources of customer dissatisfaction that are common across the NAM operating units. Determine the underlying causes and develop/execute strategies to eliminate those causes.
  • Determine the true, systemic root causes of internal failure and Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ). Execute a strategy consisting of well-planned and executed preventive actions that reduces COPQ and other forms of waste. Drive improvements in process quality, production efficiency, and the elimination of the factors that drive variability and unforeseen disruptions.
  • Drive a strategy that incorporates standard work, effective training, and recurring process audits to ensure process discipline at all operating units.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate KPIs that provide objective evidence of improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Transformer Business Unit Global Head of Quality and the Global Product Group to ensure execution of global quality initiatives within NAM as well as compliance to global standards.
  • Participate as an active member of the Global Quality Council and work with other Hub/Region Quality Leaders to share best practices.
  • Ensure the deployment of effective Quality Management System standards and Quality Engineering methods such as Change Control, Nonconformance Handling, FMEAs, SPC, etc.
  • Work cross functionally with other functional leaders to drive the proper quality techniques in all phases of the value chain, including tenders and proposals, project management, design, supply chain, operations, and service.
  • Participate in training and coaching of local teams in the standard quality improvement approach and quality management standard requirements to develop organizational capability.
  • Manage a Quality Organization that includes Factory Quality Managers, Supplier Quality Management and other Quality Management professionals.

Requirements:

  • BS or BA Degree in Engineering or related field
  • 10+ years of professional experience leading a Quality Organization, including multi-site Quality Management
  • Experience with the execution of continuous improvement methodology such as Operational Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, Strategy Deployment, etc.
  • ASQ Certification in one or more certifications: CQE, CMQ-OE, CSSBB, etc.
  • Requires the ability to independently resolve complex problems. Requires ability to manage a skilled and diverse staff, communicate effectively, represent the organization, act decisively and influence decisions of senior managers and customers. Requires foresight to anticipate problems and recognize opportunities for cost-effectively improving operations
  • Experience working with transformer systems and/or related technologies (electromagnetics, magnetics, induction systems, power electronics, power products, inverters) preferred
