Job description

Position: Corporate Controller

Job Type: Full Time 

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Location: Remote (Some Travel Required) 

Compensation: $185,000-215,000 Annual Salary + Annual Bonus

 

About The Role 

The Corporate Controller at Sandstone Care is an enthusiastic and strategic leader who sees beyond the numbers to understand and provide insights that drive growth, optimize performance and support industry-leading patient care. The successful candidate will be a key business partner and architect of our financial future, responsible for executing forward looking strategies and overseeing financial operations, including accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and risk management. This individual ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, supports strategic financial planning, and collaborates with senior leadership to drive financial performance and growth. This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and regularly interfaces with Sandstone leadership, private equity partners, auditors, lenders, and external financial consultants.

 

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance.
  • Preferred: CPA or advanced degree (MBA, master’s in accounting or finance)

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 4 years in a leadership or director-level role.
  •  Healthcare or behavioral health industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in a private equity-backed organization is a plus.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership over the company’s financial and accounting functions.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to analyze business performance, achieve organizational objectives and inform decision-making.
  • Partner with financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial modeling.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, FASB standards, and all applicable financial regulations.
  • Mentor and lead a high performing accounting and finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, business partnership, and problem solving with a service-oriented mindset.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, including segregation of duties and ethical financial practices.
  • Oversee accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and financial reporting.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
  • Assess and mitigate financial and operational risk through data analysis and trend monitoring.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts succinctly and provide summarized insight, not data, to drive business decision-making.
  • Continuously evaluate and implement process improvements to enhance scalability, reporting efficiency and accuracy.
  • Serve as a thought partner on financial strategy, investment planning, and business scalability.
