Senior Account Executive - Remote, Boston or Chicago

We are currently seeking a Senior Director of Business Development to join our diverse and dynamic team. As a Senior Director of Business Development at ICON, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic growth initiatives, interpreting complex medical data, and contributing to the advancement of innovative treatments and therapies.

What you will be doing

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive business development strategies to expand market presence and increase revenue streams.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities aligned with organizational objectives, leveraging industry trends and market insights.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology firms, and contract research organizations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop customized solutions and proposals that address client needs and differentiate ICON's offerings.
  • Monitor competitor activities, market dynamics, and regulatory trends to inform strategic decision-making and maintain a competitive edge.


Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in business, life sciences, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Located in Greater Boston or Chicago Metropolitan area
  • Extensive experience in business development, sales, or client management within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or clinical research industry.
  • Experience selling CRO services to Pharmaceutical and Biotech clients. Understanding of Real World preferred.
  • Proven track record of successfully negotiating and closing complex deals, driving revenue growth, and exceeding targets.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve organizational objectives and deliver exceptional results.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence decision-makers at all levels of the organization.
