Summary
The Executive Director of Nursing will lead the nursing team within our specialty infusion pharmacy and oversees the all aspects of nursing operations, ensuring that patients receive exceptional, evidence-based care while navigating complex medications, therapies, and treatment plans. This leadership role will involve collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, strategic planning, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Leadership and Management:
- Provides strategic direction and leadership to the nursing team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and evaluating nursing staff performance.
- Fosters a positive work environment that emphasizes teamwork, collaboration, and patient-centered care.
- Oversees nursing staff in delivering patient education, clinical consultations, and monitoring of therapy effectiveness.
- Develops and implements nursing protocols, policies, and procedures specific to the specialty infusion pharmacy environment.
Clinical Operations:
- Ensures that nursing services meet the needs of patients receiving complex medications, biologics, and specialty therapies.
- Oversees patient assessment, education, and monitoring of response to medications and therapies, with particular attention to side effects, complications, and adherence to prescribed treatments.
- Collaborates with pharmacists, physicians, and other healthcare providers to develop individualized care plans for patients.
- Leads efforts to ensure nursing practices align with current evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Monitors nursing services and pharmacy operations for compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including those set forth by the Board of Nursing, healthcare accreditation bodies, and specialty pharmacy standards.
- Conducts regular audits and performance evaluations to ensure patient safety, satisfaction, and high-quality care.
- Stay current with emerging trends, regulatory changes, and innovations in nursing practices within the specialty infusion pharmacy field.
Patient Care Advocacy:
- Advocates for patients by coordinating access to medications, insurance, financial assistance, and other resources.
- Provides guidance on the appropriate use of home or specialty infusion therapies, addressing any concerns or questions patients may have throughout their treatment journey.
- Ensures nursing staff is proficient in patient education, providing them with the tools needed to manage complex therapies and optimize medication adherence.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Serves as a liaison between the nursing department, pharmacy team, management, and other departments to ensure seamless communication and coordinated patient care.
- Participates in interdisciplinary meetings to assess patient outcomes and implement improvement initiatives.
- Acts as a resource to the team, offering guidance and expertise in managing high-risk medications and patient care concerns.
Strategic Planning and Growth:
- Contributes to the strategic development of the pharmacy's nursing operations, setting long-term goals and performance targets.
- Identifies opportunities for innovation in nursing practices, patient care, and specialty pharmacy services.
- Collaborates with leadership to expand and improve nursing services in alignment with the company's overall growth strategies.

Qualification Requirements

- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor a multidisciplinary team.
- In-depth understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements for specialty pharmacy operations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and organizational leaders.
- Ability to manage complex patient care and effectively coordinate care across multiple disciplines.
- Proficient in the use of electronic health records (EHR) and other clinical management software.
- Provide the highest level of professionalism, responsiveness, and communication to build and maintain the maximum customer base possible.
- Must possess the ability to multi-task and frequently change direction.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, maintain automobile insurance coverage, and have access to a reliable automobile.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required
- Master’s degree in nursing (MSN), Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
- At least 7-10 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in a home or specialty infusion pharmacy, healthcare, or managed care environment.
- Strong knowledge of specialty medications, biologics, immunotherapy, infusion therapies, and other complex treatment modalities.
- Proven experience in developing and managing clinical protocols, patient education programs, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Certification in Immune Globulin Therapy (IgCN) preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure is required; Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) licensure is preferred.
- Board certification in a relevant clinical nursing specialty (e.g., Infusion Therapy) preferred.
- CPR/ACLS certification required.
