Job description

Job Description:

As a 5G Cybersecurity Specialist, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing security protocols to protect our 5G networks from cyber threats. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess vulnerabilities, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure the overall security posture of our 5G network environment. This role demands expertise in cybersecurity, a deep understanding of 5G technologies, and the ability to stay ahead of evolving threats.

Key Responsibilities:

You will assess, design, and implement cybersecurity measures to protect 5G network infrastructures, applications, and services. Additionally, you will monitor and identify emerging threats and vulnerabilities related to 5G technologies, including network slicing, virtualized network functions, and edge computing. Working with vendors, service providers, and internal teams, you will ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements like 3GPP, NIST, and ISO/IEC 27001. You will conduct risk assessments and threat modeling for 5G network components, such as RAN (Radio Access Network), Core, and Transport networks. You will also develop and implement incident response plans for 5G security incidents and lead efforts to investigate and resolve security breaches. Penetration testing and vulnerability scanning on 5G-related technologies and network environments will be part of your role, as will developing and implementing security policies, procedures, and best practices for 5G deployments. You will work closely with network engineers and software developers to integrate security into the design and operation of 5G solutions, as well as evaluate and implement encryption and authentication protocols. Additionally, you will provide cybersecurity awareness training to internal teams about emerging risks in 5G technologies, and continuously track trends in 5G security vulnerabilities and threats, proactively addressing potential risks.

Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will need a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (a Master’s degree is preferred). You should have proven experience in cybersecurity, particularly with a focus on 5G or telecommunications security, and a solid understanding of 5G technologies, including network functions, protocols like 5G NR and 5G SA, and architecture. Experience with network security tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and encryption is essential. You should have in-depth knowledge of security frameworks like NIST, CIS, ISO/IEC 27001, and 3GPP security standards, as well as experience with vulnerability management, threat detection, and incident response in complex network environments. Familiarity with cloud-native technologies, virtualization, containerization, and network slicing in 5G environments will be beneficial, as will hands-on experience with penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and risk management tools. You should also have a good understanding of cryptographic protocols and key management for securing 5G networks, along with strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical teams are a must.
