Job description

The Data and Analytics team at Mimecast is an exciting blend of business, data, and technology. Using a high-powered technology stack that includes Tableau, DBT, Snowflake and business applications, the team answers business questions, designs and develops enterprise-wide reporting, visualization and analytic tools to turn data into actionable insight. In turn, we enable our stakeholders to make smarter, data-driven decisions. This individual will be part of a fast-paced, team-centric environment committed to delivering strategic, management and operational insight.

 

At their core, analysts at Mimecast are strong in quantitative data analysis, but also want to balance that with their interest in business. This role requires a mixture of business acumen and technical expertise, along with an ability to build strong partnerships with business & technology partners. Success in the role will require a self-starter with a passion for collaborating with others to solve problems.


Key Responsibilities:

As a Data and Analytics Intern, you will be focused on supporting the team as they build out analytical tools to be used across the enterprise, at scale. You'll work closely with our analysts and data engineers to create a data architecture that ensures the right information is available and accessible to all stakeholders throughout the organization.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Assist in deploying scalable analytics technology & analytics tools
  • Contribute to the design and development of high-performance data models, enabling teams of analysts distributed across corporate business functions.
  • Work within a team to address needs of analysts and stakeholders to refine requirements, nail down calculations, and debug and qualify produced data sets to ensure they meet the underlying business needs.
  • Participate in the engineering, preparing and shaping of data into appropriate structures
  • Contribute to standards and best practices around the use of scalable data sets.
  • Develop an understanding of underlying data, data structures, and business uses of data
  • Be a results-oriented problem solver

 

What You'll Bring:

  • Relevant coursework in Business Intelligence, Analytics, and/or Data Engineering roles.
  • Experience with  SQL
  • Exposure to dbt a plus
  • Exposure to  reporting and analytics within BI Tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, Domo, Qlik, Spotfire, Einstein/Wave Analytics or related BI Tool a plus
  • Thrive in a fast-paced work environment and comfortable operating under ambiguity
  • Fast learner with high attention to detail and possess a passion for data, data quality & business analytics
  • Knowledge of python/R or statistical analysis , a plus
  • Experience with UI/UX and product design, a plus
  • Pursuit of a degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, Economics, or related discipline/work experience
  • Relevant coursework in Business Intelligence, Analytics, and/or Data Engineering roles.
