About the Position:

We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Regional H&S Specialist to support our global Health & Safety initiatives across the EMEA and APAC regions. This role will play a critical part in ensuring regulatory compliance, implementing safety programs, and creating a safe work environment for all employees fostering a culture of safety across all regions. The position reports directly to the Director, Employment Law - Global and will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.

What you'll do:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on health and safety regulations across EMEA and APAC, ensuring the organization remains compliant.
    • Monitor and interpret local legislation to guide policy adjustments.
    • Provide proactive recommendations to adjust internal policies, procedures, and guidelines to align with local regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with internal teams and external legal counsel/vendors to conduct risk assessments, hazard identifications and safety audits and implement corrective actions plans and mitigation strategies.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert to guide stakeholders on region-specific compliance obligations and their impact on operations.
  • Program Implementation: Assist in rolling out global health and safety programs specific to regional requirements.
    • Support the development of safety policies, procedures, and training materials.
    • Develop and maintain safety performance metrics to track and report on the effectiveness of safety initiatives.
    • Coordinate with local teams to ensure consistent adoption of safety practices.
    • Engage with potential vendors to explore solutions and assist with the implementation of health and safety programs across the designated regions.
  • Incident Management:
    • Oversee incident reporting, investigation, and resolution processes. Identify root causes to prevent future occurrences.
  • Training & Development: Organize and deliver health and safety training sessions. Promote a safety culture by educating employees on personal safety and the importance of adhering to safety protocols.
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with third-party safety vendors and local regulatory bodies.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to explore, assess, and onboard solutions that enhance health and safety program effectiveness.
    • Coordinate meetings and evaluations with potential vendors to discuss service offerings, compliance capabilities, and alignment with regional requirements.
    • Facilitate communication between internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring seamless integration of safety initiatives across regions.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to implement health and safety committees and actively participate in staff representative committees for issues related to health and safety as required by local regulations.
    • Collaborate with local regulatory bodies in case of audits or requests.

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a health and safety role, ideally with a remote-first global company.
  • In-depth knowledge of EMEA and APAC health and safety regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across multiple time zones.
  • Health and Safety certifications, such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent, are highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with vendor management, including assessing, selecting, and coordinating with third-party safety providers.
  • Multilingual abilities are a plus, especially languages relevant to EMEA or APAC regions.
