Job description

Political Data Associate (Contractor)

Overview

GoodParty.org  is looking for a detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and outgoing Political Data Associate to support our candidate identification operations. This role involves collecting, cleaning, and verifying candidate data from local elected officials, as well as making outreach calls to officials to obtain critical filing information. The position will work directly with our Director of Research and must be located in EST or CST time zones. This is a part-time contract position until May 16, 2025, with potential to extend.

About GoodParty.org:

GoodParty.org is on a mission to make people matter more than money in our democracy by empowering independent candidates to run, win, and serve. Our AI-powered platform provides free tools to independent candidates to run their campaigns, connect with voters, and serve their communities effectively.

A majority of eligible voters, including more than half of Millennials and Gen Z, say that neither Republicans nor Democrats represent them. GoodParty.org is the solution. In 2024 we empowered 3,444 independent candidate wins across 48 states from all across the ideological spectrum. The only things our elected officials have in common is that they prioritize people over parties and community over corporate interests. In 2024, 40.3 million voters (26% of all voters) cast a ballot for our candidates. We’re not a political party, we’re a platform and a movement to democratize democracy.

Founded by serial entrepreneur Farhad Mohit ($1B+ in exits, including Flipagram/TikTok and Shopzilla), GoodParty.org is building solutions so we can have a truly representative democracy where society’s biggest problems are solved.

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct online research and data cleaning to compile information on candidates running for local offices.

  • Call local elected offices to obtain and verify candidate filing information.

  • Navigate local government structures to identify relevant contacts and resources.

  • Maintain accurate and well-organized records in spreadsheets and databases.

  • Use AI tools to enhance data entry and cleaning efficiency.

  • Communicate professionally and politely with election officials, adapting to different personalities and communication styles.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve data collection processes.

  • Support Director of Research with relevant ad hoc projects.

Who we’re looking for:

  • You’re tech-savvy and have experience working with complex spreadsheets and AI tools for data processing and online research.

  • You’ve had at least one paid job in political field operations or organizing (canvassing, phone banking, door knocking, etc.) or phone-based customer service. You’ll be happy talking on the phone for most of the day.

  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science or a related field and understand at least the basics of how local elections are administered.

  • You’re a patient and polite communicator who can build rapport with busy local election officials, especially in small communities.

  • You have a flexible schedule and are available to work for a minimum of 16 hours per week and can flex up to 40 hours per week if needed. This contract position will be compensated on an hourly basis.

  • You’re a self-starter who can work independently, take initiative, raise issues you’re seeing, and proactively solve problems.

  • You’re detail-oriented with a strong ability to ensure data accuracy and completeness.

Bonus if:

  • Prior experience in data research or administrative roles.

  • Prior experience with AI tools for data processing and online research.

  • You’re sick of sitting on the sidelines watching our democracy fail to meet its potential.

Why you should work at GoodParty.org:

  • Join us in solving the biggest problem of our time – fixing our democracy – so all other problems can be solved.

  • We’re a Public Benefit Corporation that prioritizes social impact over making money.

  • Work where and how you like, on a fully remote team spread across the country.

  • Join a passionate team with diverse political views focused on one mission.

  • We’re fully funded for our mission. No stressing over whether the next round of funding will come through. Focus on making an impact. That’s what matters here.

The pay rate for this remote contractor position is $19-22/hour. This range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. The hourly rate will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, seniority, education, qualifications, certifications, and organizational needs.
