Position: SEO Specialist
Reports to: Christopher Semetis, Senior Director, Web Development 
Department: Web & Digital Marketing 
Location: U.S.-based remote (see location requirements below)

Who you are:

CIEE is looking for someone who is passionate about SEO and Digital Marketing to help deliver quality organic search results for our college study abroad business. The ideal candidate will not only be proficient in the latest techniques and tools but will think strategically about projects and play a role in putting together integrated campaigns blending organic search, PPC, display, and remarketing. The candidate will have a blend of technical experience and content skills. They should be able to multitask across diverse environments, communicate effectively with business stakeholders and internal team members, and be excited learning about new technologies and processes. They should also be able to report on their findings and progress. This is a full-time remote position, Monday-Friday with east coast hours of 9 a.m.-5 p.m. (EST). What you’ll do:

  • Preparing and executing on-page optimization strategies to improve organic visibility for our programs, locations, and services.
  • Assisting with strategic development for brand and marketing campaigns, starting from kickoff and extending through post-launch and analysis.
  • Maintaining keyword lists based on clients’ objectives and market opportunities, using data analytics from various sources.
  • Preparing reports which show performance and trends to deliver insights/recommendations to clients.
  • Reviewing and editing page content to comply with SEO best practices, ensure proper messaging, use of value propositions, and call to action statements to drive.
  • Assist with webpage updates and posting blogs.
  • Conducting website technical audits to identify areas of concern from an SEO perspective, including analysis and implementation of technical recommendations to help improve website page speed, uncover and remedy web crawling issues, analyze rendering, and more.
  • Reviewing website analytics, crawl reports, and analytics reports to come up with strategies to improve indexation.
  • Working with our internal resources to prepare, plan, and execute link building and content marketing strategies.
  • Maintaining relationships with sales and marketing team and proactively assessing opportunities to improve the site’s performance.


What you’ll bring:

  • 2-3 years of direct SEO experience working with multiple clients simultaneously.
  • Understanding of how to interpret data from platforms like Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.
  • Knowledge of SEO software such as Moz, SEMRush, BrightEdge, or Screaming Frog.
  • Familiarity with website analytics platforms such as Google Analytics.
  • Ability to write compelling, optimized content (page content, metadata, etc.).
  • Ability to think strategically to identify and define keyword opportunities for optimization.
  • Knowledge of factors that influence search engine rankings.
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering organic traffic related outcomes in competitive markets.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, like Drupal, WordPress, etc.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Understanding of best practices for site architecture and URL structure.
  • Understanding of Schema markup.
  • Experience working with canonical tags, redirects, robots.txt files, and XML sitemaps.
