Why Patients Need You

As part of Pfizer Specialty Care Patient Solutions Team, this individual will report directly to the Patient Engagement Lead.  It will be this person’s role responsibility to establish and maintain strong and lasting relationships with Patient Organizations and Professional Societies that support our presence in the Sickle Cell Community.

What You Will Achieve

These relationships with national advocacy groups and other professional societies that will be essential for Pfizer Specialty Care to achieve personal and departmental business goals that are not normally attainable through traditional business channels via:

  • Developing and implementing initiatives that provide value-add potential for key stakeholders that position Pfizer as a credible and relevant partner.
  • Advancing partnerships with patient and professional organizations to help deliver insights and leadership for emerging disease areas within the Pfizer’s portfolio.
  • Interactions with key stakeholders demonstrate an ability to meet customer needs with a balanced commitment to Pfizer Patient Engagement Team business objectives.
  • Demonstrate through thoughtful partnerships, a compelling vision to outside organizations that generates respect and provides a competitive advantage for our Pfizer Rare Disease.
  • Exhibit strong relationship skills and be able to foster and communicate the Advocacy & Professional Relations vision and remit to numerous cross-functional Pfizer workstreams.
  • Provide Patient and Professional Alliances content and expertise to commercial colleagues during the Strategic Planning process.
  • Continue to build the cross functional model that our team fosters by collaborating with internal and external key stakeholders to successfully achieve Pfizer’s objectives to serve patients and find new answers to unmet medical challenges.

Ultimately, this individual will bring focus, expertise and prioritized action such that Pfizer establishes a leadership position in Sickle Cell Community.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Maintain expertise on forces driving the SCD patient and professional communities
  • Translate understanding of these dynamics into strategic imperatives for:
    • BU as a whole to LT
    • Commercial colleagues
    • Teams across patient advocacy (who is bringing voice to patient level concerns), national accounts (impact on contracting and distribution models, creative approaches to solutions), customer solutions (frame up resources for PN, CEL, PALs)
  • Directly engage in a partnership with public affairs BU lead regarding communication of activities with the SCD community
  • Directly manage relationships with SCD organizations currently managed in the Advocacy & Professional Relations team
  • Identify the select "critical few" priorities and mobilize robust cross-functional work streams requiring leadership across marketing, sales/AM, public affairs, co-promote partners, and medical
  • This colleague will possess & apply a thorough understanding of our product portfolio, each customer’s aligned business priorities and how both are being impacted by the market evolution in order to develop effective customer engagement strategies and tactics. 

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's degree is required; advanced degree such as MBA preferred.
  • Account Management, Leadership or similar level experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years plus of pharmaceutical commercial experience (including account management, sales, marketing, business operations) and experience in Sickle Cell Disease is highly preferred
  • Experience working successfully in a matrix environment
  • Significant experience in the RD/SCD marketplace, with an understanding of how to frame complex challenges to the organization with a solutions orientation

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience in Sickle Cell Disease is highly preferred
  • Ability to generate deep, targeted customer insights and integrate into business decisions.
  • Ability to align customized solutions to brand priorities in order to ensure focus on strategic execution of the operating plan. 
  • Demonstrated initiative, strong strategic and leadership skills.
  • Solid analytical and strategic thinking; ability to translate strategy and analysis to a tactical, executable level.
  • Ability to synthesize complex information and distill critical customer driven insights to drive brand performance.
  • Ability to work effectively in a customer and brand team-based environment and partner with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong project and process management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize/multi-task effectively.

Other Requirements

  • Broad understanding of Pfizer’s Rare Disease Businesses and relationships with commercial partners
  • Exhibit strong collaboration/relationship-building skills and ability to engage across multiple functions at a senior level
  • Experienced in communicating and interacting with external stakeholders is desirable
  • Professional maturity and presence with advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Intrinsically motivated and self-directed
  • Patient Centric focused and committed to trust and integrity
  • Outstanding collaboration and networking abilities
  • Proximity to NYHQ preferred
  • Travel required (estimated up to 40%)

Work Location Assignment: Remote - Field Based

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $182,000.00 to $303,300.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 22.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
