AVP Sales and Marketing

PRIMARY PURPOSE: To manage the sales support team through staff development, motivation and mentoring; to ensure scheduling, quality and delivery of marketing projects; and to manage the Request for Proposal (RFP) process; to develop compelling sales collateral, follow-up responses and presentation materials as needed throughout the sales cycle.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages marketing support staff and serves as mentor regarding both strategy and tactics of proposal development and content.
  • Manages the RFP/proposal development processes across the proposal team and the entire organization.
  • Ensures responses are well written and compliant with Sedgwick-defined processes and procedures.
  • Ensures project scheduling, actions and results are effective for marketing needs; review for quality, compliant and responsive work product.
  • Establishes and maintains proposal best practices around proposal leadership; proposal response development; and value proposition development.
  • Drives process improvements as they relate to proposal management and works with marketing team to identify and resolve project issues.
  • Works actively to ensure business development directors (BDDs), client services directors and other internal colleagues receive quality proposal management support for all opportunities.
  • Reviews and develops project presentation materials and makes recommendations for enhancements to management.
  • Assists VP Sales & Marketing in analyzing data and providing recommendations as needed.
  • Works with management and vendors to ensure quality product is produced.
  • Communicates project progression to appropriate parties.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Supports the organization's quality program(s).
  • Travels as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers company personnel policies in all areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations.
  • Interviews, hires and establishes colleague performance development plans; conducts colleague performance reviews.
  • Provides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with marketing focus strongly preferred.

Experience
Ten (10) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required to include seven (7) years of marketing or communication experience and two (2) years of related field experience including writing/editing and presentation, desktop publishing and graphics software. Supervisory experience strongly preferred. Project management experience preferred.
