England Athletics is the membership and development body for athletics and running in England. We work in partnership with the wider athletics family, especially our member clubs and bodies, UK Athletics, Sport England & commercial partners, to grow opportunities for everyone to experience our sport and to enable them to reach their full potential. England Athletics also provides national-level competition and is responsible for athlete development beneath world-class performance levels.
England Athletics is a membership organisation with c1,770 member clubs/bodies and c166,000 registered athletes, which exists to provide services and support to its members and to promote and deliver athletics and running activities across all ages, event disciplines, ability levels and aspirations and to give support to the wider sport where there are more than 6m who run each month in England, 3,500 licensed road races and 206,991 active RunTogether participants operating in more than 3,287 groups.

The Role:
A vacancy has arisen at England Athletics for a
Sustainability Manager,
on a permanent basis. The role will lead the operational delivery of our sustainability work. Working closely with The Green Runners, the post holder will be responsible for supporting sustainability practices within our network of athletics and running clubs, as well as developing a working model to encourage more licensed events to adopt sustainability principles.
The postholder will work with internal champions to embed sustainability thinking and action across the whole organisation.
Working with external agency support and Head of Commercial, they will oversee an update to the current sustainability strategy.
The postholder will be responsible for:
Manage the update to England Athletics’ sustainability strategy.
Work with the marketing team, athlete ambassadors and clubs to showcase best practice
Manage Sport England sustainability funding requirements, specifically the measurement of and subsequent reduction of England Athletics carbon impact
Support the management of the internal working group of sustainability champions to embed sustainability across the organisation.
Operational lead within the internal sustainability steering group.
