Role Purpose
The Head of Social Value will set the strategy and support the delivery of a programme of work that contributes significant social and economic benefits to the communities in which we operate. The focus areas will be creating impact in skills development, engagement with local stakeholders, and strengthening our domestic supply chain to maximise social impact.
Key Responsibilities
You will act at the single point of contact with Great British Nuclear (GBN) to deliver against our contractual commitments on social value. You will develop and deliver a strategy that is consistent with the requirements of GBN and work across Rolls-Royce SMR (predominantly with skills and supply chain) to meet or exceed the requirements of GBN.
Community Engagement:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with local communities, councils, and stakeholders to understand and address their needs and concerns. Activities will be focused on our office locations, at manufacturing centres and the site that will host our SMR
Work with Great British Nuclear, skills agencies, business groups and within our business to align social value initiatives with broader national goals.
Skills Development:
Work with skills leaders within the business to design and implement programs that enhance local skills and employment opportunities. This will focus on launching training initiatives and supporting our suppliers to deliver similar initiatives.
Monitor and report on the effectiveness of skills development initiatives and their impact on local employment.
Supply Chain Enhancement:
Work closely with the supply chain/procurement teams to ensure local suppliers are integrated into the supply chain, enhancing regional economic growth.
Develop strategies to build capacity and resilience within the supply chain, promoting sustainability and innovation.
Collaborate with industry partners and government bodies to promote best practices and standards and ensure activities we deliver enable the broadest spectrum of suppliers contribute to our programme.
Monitor and measure impact of the programmes we introduce, to demonstrate progress against the GBN contract.
Support the design and delivery of programmes that boost the involvement of SMEs and broaden the UK supply chain
Utilise programme management skills to drive delivery on supply chain commitments across the RR SMR business
Social Impact Measurement:
Develop metrics and tools to measure the social impact of Rolls-Royce SMR’s projects and initiatives.
Prepare regular reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders on social value outcomes.
Use data-driven insights to refine and improve social value strategies and initiatives.
Leadership and Strategy:
Lead a small team and influence the wider business, provide guidance and support to achieve strategic objectives.
Contribute to the overall corporate social responsibility strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and community needs.
Advocate for social value and sustainability within the organization, promoting a culture of social responsibility
What We Are Looking For
Proven experience in community engagement, corporate social responsibility, or a related area within a large organisation.
Strong understanding of the energy sector, particularly nuclear energy and sustainability.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders internally as well as with government, industry, and community groups.
Ability to utilise metrics/data to evidence progress
Beneficial Training Or/and Qualifications
Degree in Social Science, Business, Public Policy, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Pay And Benefits
We anticipate paying a salary between £80,000 - £108,000 Dependant on Experience
Bonus - Short Term Incentive - Performance Based- target opportunity 20%
Benefits Allowance - £8,500, enabling you to create a bespoke package
Pension - 12% employer and 6% employee contributions.
Holidays - 28 days holiday (+ public holidays) and the ability to buy or sell up to 4 days
