Attorney - Outside Counsel Guidelines Attorney - Outside Counsel Guidelines Location: New York, NY The New York office of Barnes & Thornburg LLP is seeking an Attorney to join B&T's General Counsel's Office. Job Requirements Review incoming Outside Counsel Guidelines and related materials, drafting comments and proposed edits for relationship partners and/or client consideration. Analyze prior Outside Counsel Guidelines, engagement terms, and related materials to understand existing client agreements. Work with the Senior Outside Counsel Guidelines Attorney and members of the General Counsel’s Office to finalize comments and proposed edits. Communicate via email, phone, and video calls with relationship partners and clients to negotiate requested clarifications and modifications. Review initial tags recorded in the Firm’s Outside Counsel Guidelines tracking software and update as needed to reflect final agreements. Collaborate with various teams, including Professional Responsibility Attorneys, Conflicts Attorneys, and the New Employments team, to gather information and complete Outside Counsel Guidelines analysis. Work with reviewing teams, including Legal Operations, Accounting, Information Security, Data Privacy, DEI, Human Resources, and the General Counsel’s Office, to understand reasoning for comments and negotiations. Assist with other projects and special requests as needed. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) and an active license to practice law in the United States. At least two years of experience as a Conflicts Attorney, client contract attorney, or comparable role. Strong understanding of legal relationships and legal risk management. Knowledge of the Rules of Professional Conduct. Experience with database review and searching. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate issues accurately, clearly, and succinctly. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities for addressing complex issues. Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail, including issue-tracking and resolution skills. Ability to conduct thorough internet research using various reference materials. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while managing shifting priorities. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding sensitive information. Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Remote work option. Salary The base salary range for this position is $125,000 to $160,000 (commensurate with experience). We will not consider resumes submitted by external agencies or recruiters for this position.
