3+ years of experience in payroll processing, specifically in multi-state U.S. payroll. Solid knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements. Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Gusto, QuickBooks Payroll, etc.). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace. Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and data accuracy.

Core responsibilities:

Process biweekly/semi-monthly payroll for employees across multiple U.S. states, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with state and federal laws. Maintain payroll records and reports in accordance with legal requirements and company policies. Set up and maintain employee payroll information including tax withholdings, benefits deductions, direct deposits, garnishments, and bonuses. Liaise with finance and HR to ensure accurate payroll inputs and data consistency. Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and assist with month-end and year-end payroll closings. Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and coordinate with external vendors where applicable. Assist in onboarding/offboarding employees with respect to payroll and HR documentation. Maintain digital employee files related to payroll, benefits, and compliance. Support benefits administration, including enrollments, deductions, and changes. Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, or administrative procedures. Prepare reports and summaries for management as needed. Support ad hoc administrative tasks related to HR and operations.
