The Practice Innovation Attorney will play a pivotal role in advancing the firm’s practice innovation strategy by identifying, evaluating, and implementing cutting-edge legal technology and process improvements within the practice groups and attorney workflows. Reporting to the Senior Director of Practice and Innovation, the Practice Innovation Attorney will collaborate closely with practice group leadership, attorneys, knowledge management attorneys, IT, and external vendors to ensure that attorneys have the most effective tools and workflows to serve clients efficiently. This role requires a deep understanding of legal practice, strong project management skills, and the ability to translate attorney needs into actionable technology solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with practice group leadership, attorneys, knowledge management attorneys, and IT to assess technology needs and develop tailored innovation strategies.
  • Leverage legal practice experience to drive the evaluation of emerging technologies (legal and non-legal) and provide actionable recommendations on their applicability to attorneys and practice areas.
  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives, pilot programs, and the evaluation of new tools to assess their impact and usability by attorneys.
  • Oversee the strategic rollout of new technology solutions, ensuring seamless integration into attorney workflows.
  • Collaborate with IT, marketing, and other administrative teams to align technology adoption efforts with broader firm initiatives.
  • Communicate and train attorneys on new tools and systems to drive engagement and maximize adoption; support attorneys in developing communication plan for clients
  • Serve as a key liaison between attorneys, IT, vendors, and external innovation leaders, ensuring that the firm's technology investments align with practice needs.
  • Foster relationships with legal tech vendors and industry organizations to stay informed on trends and best practices.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance legal service delivery, leveraging technology to drive efficiency and reduce friction in attorney workflows.
  • Support the development of automated workflows, data analytics tools, and AI-powered solutions to enhance internal operations and legal service delivery. Consider legal practice experience to drive efficiencies
  • Participates in, and contributes to, various technology-related working groups and committees as necessary, such as the Innovation Center of Excellence.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, reports, and training sessions to educate attorneys and leadership on innovation initiatives.
  • Supervise and provide strategic direction to the Innovation Lead, ensuring alignment with firmwide innovation priorities and initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • J.D. degree and experience in litigation required; employment law a plus
  • Passion for legal technology, innovation, and process improvement.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing legal tech solutions (e.g., case management, AI tools, document automation).
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for a legal audience.
  • Ability to foster cross-functional collaboration and drive attorney engagement with new technologies.
