Forestry Supply Chain Specialist

What you can expect:

As a Forestry Supply Chain Specialist, you will assess and verify the sustainability and legality of the raw material processed in the wood and paper industry through the evaluation of related chain of custody systems and by managing FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certifications for our clients. Your role will ensure compliance with international standards while supporting businesses in their sustainability journey.

Working with us is never routine so the first year you can expect the following areas to be central to your work.

• Manage an extensive portfolio of certified clients in the Czech Republic, overseeing audit planning, execution, reporting, client communication, and certificate administration.
• Build strong relationships with clients by delivering high-quality audits and clear guidance on certification requirements.
• Serve as a key contact for clients, providing information about certification, technical guidance on interpretation of certification standards and the certification process and trademark use.
• Expand your professional network and contribute to the growth of Preferred by Nature’s certification services.

Your first year with us

Within three months, you will:

• Complete onboarding and familiarize yourself with Preferred by Nature's mission and role. Receive on-the-job training to transition smoothly into your role as an auditor and task manager. If you don't have certification experience, we will provide the necessary training related to FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) Standards and give you the skills needed to audit these schemes in accordance with our high-quality standards.
• Shadow experienced auditors by participating and assisting in several audit processes.
• Begin drafting audit reports and supporting logistics for client engagements. Acquire qualification on trademark use management, reviewing and approving trademark use requests.

Within six months, you will:

• Take steps towards working independently as an auditor by completing at least four audits as a trainee auditor along with participating in report writing and administration tasks related to certification
• Ensure quality, consistency, and timeliness across evaluations and administrative tasks.
• Efficiently manage time to prioritize tasks and effectively use Salesforce to optimize workflows and data management

Within one year, you will:

• Attain full proficiency as Lead Auditor for FSC and PEFC CoC evaluations in the Czech Republic and potentially neighboring countries.
• Act as Task Manager for assigned jobs, ensuring report quality control before final submission.
• Actively contribute to the performance, quality, and reputation of Preferred by Nature’s certification services.
• Take part in internal knowledge-sharing and represent Preferred by Nature with professionalism and integrity.

Important that you have:

• Tertiary education (college or university qualification) in the field of forestry, wood technology, biology, geography, environmental management or related field and 2 years of professional experience in the forest products sector.

OR 

• Relevant secondary education (high school certificate) AND 5 years of professional experience in the forest products sector.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Native or proficient Czech language
• Willingness and ability to travel nationwide (and internationally) up to 50% of the time
• Have a high level of integrity and business ethics to strike a balance between serving clients and, at the same time, not compromising your role as an auditor
• Experience using digital tools in your work (word processing, spreadsheets, presentations)

Would also be great, but not necessary, if you have:

• Experience in auditing and/or familiarity with FSC/PEFC CoC certification schemes
• Experience and/or familiarity with other sector-related sustainability schemes such as SBP, SURE, Carbon footprint, etc.
