This assignment posting is for an Agency Worker opportunity with Dotdash Meredith. The Agency Worker is paid by a staffing agency employer. Agency Workers will receive a W2 from the staffing agency reporting their earnings for tax purposes.

PEOPLE is looking for a writer for its Society & Culture team, to work Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EST. This person will be responsible for pitching, reporting and writing digital stories. They must also be willing to write and report breaking news and cover related events.

Responsibilities & Expectations

Write a minimum of 5 stories a day, including breaking news and longer galleries
Has a vast knowledge of internet culture, social media and popular celebrities spanning generations
Able to time-manage and can easily pivot in breaking news situations, turning around clean copy in a quick manner
Has a knack for finding the best headline in lengthy articles or red carpet interview files
Has a deep understanding of the PEOPLE voice and audience and can turn something simple into a buzzy news story

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, detail-oriented team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has solid writing skills and discerning news judgment, while still delivering everything clean, sharp and accurate. This person must also be fluent in the digital landscape, including SEO and analytics.

Pay rate: $30 per hour

Location: Remote

Hours: M-F 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EST

Assignment is 3 months, with potential to extend
