Job description

 

 

​​The Digital UX Developer works in a global organization with differing time zones that is fast-paced, and exciting. They are responsible for the organization, loading, updating and removal of website content across our digital properties. In addition, this role is also responsible for setting go live and expiration dates for content and ensuring dates conform to the shared marketing calendar. The UX Developer will also be responsible for writing consistent, standards-compliant, cross-browser and cross-platform web pages on a responsive site in new or existing frameworks by leveraging standard web technologies (HTML 5, HTML, CSS, JavaScript), and will also help mentor more junior developers.​

Representative Responsibilities  

  • Produce consistent, standards-compliant, cross-browser and cross-platform web pages on a responsive site in new or existing frameworks by leveraging standard web technologies (HTML 5, HTML, CSS, JavaScript) that can also be leveraged through digital in store assets. 

  • Responsible for writing accessible code that is ADA compliant. 

  • Responsible for self-testing code with minimal revisions to the Quality Assurance team. 

  • Partner closely with the Brand Marketing and Creative teams to design/code engaging in store and online interactive experiences to showcase the brand, technology or product across all our digital properties.  

  • Assist in setting the site as it changes from week to week by using assets made by the creative group, site tagging defined by the analytics group, keeping page load performance and ADA compliance in mind.  

  • Customize and optimize responsive web pages so that all common screen sizes get the best possible overall experience by understanding and advising the UX tradeoffs that might need to be made to achieve a desired content, performance or conversion goal.  

  • Provide project estimates with reasonable accuracy then independently execute against projects within specified deadlines utilizing standardized checkpoints and clarifying requirements that are unclear.  

  • Examine problems or existing solutions and then engage in the sharing of ideas and dialogue with a variety of business partners in a professional manner to address or evolve consumer experiences.  

  • Code and refine personalization experiences to grow key KPI’s  

  • Review web analytics and session data and performance data to identify areas of improvement. Then test into solutions.  

  • Create detail-oriented processes, including the ability to write well documented, reusable code.  

  • Partner with the analytics team and use digital analytics/web tools to track user experiences and make changes to optimize user funnels and maximize conversion and engagement KPI’s.  

  • Actively participate in team standup meetings and proactively identify risks and solutions.  

 

Required Education  

  • Bachelor's degree required or similar work experience 

  

Required Skills & Experience  

  • 3+ years of professional experience developing websites with some ecommerce experience.  

  • 2 years of responsive experience with track record of delivering true responsive experiences.  

  • 2+ years of Adobe Creative Cloud experience  

  • Portfolio with representative professional, polished website development work and samples of website development projects.  

  • Experience wireframing mobile first solutions  

  • Experience with generating low and high-fidelity prototypes  

  • A proven track-record of learning and playing with new technologies.  

  • An existing understanding of the Carhartt brand, or general understanding of branding principles and how to show stories across multiple customer touch points, preferred.  

  • Experience with making native apps (Swift, Objective-C, Java), preferred  

  • Ability to meet timelines and, when needed work under deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail and quality of your work.  

  • Experience with testing for cross browser compatibility, layout and ADA issues  

  • Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, including a strong commitment to follow-up, follow-through, collaborate with cross-functional teams and a sense of urgency.  

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.  

  • Proven analytical, problem solving and creative thinking skills with the ability to interpret and translate data into actionable proposals. 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions  

  • Extended periods of time sitting, standing, typing on a computer is required 

  • Willing to work some weekends if necessary 

  • Travel may be required up to 5% 

  • ​​This position has a Remote location: Associate will have no regular requirement to be on-site. Travel on-site is limited to special events.​
