Job description

6+ years experience

Extensive BigQuery Experience:

  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining data warehouses and data marts within Google BigQuery.
  • BigQuery Performance Optimization:
  • Proven ability to optimize BigQuery queries for speed and cost-efficiency, leveraging features like partitioning, clustering, and appropriate data types.
  • BigQuery Data Loading & Transformation: Expertise in various methods of loading data into BigQuery from different sources (Cloud Storage, other databases, streaming data) and performing transformations using SQL


Power BI Specific Skills:

  • Advanced Power BI Development: Deep proficiency in building complex and interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI Desktop, utilizing advanced visualizations and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
  • Experience figuring out and optimising code independently, and improving Power BI reports.


Soft Skils

Job Responsibilities

  • Data Collection & Cleaning: Gathering data from various sources (databases, spreadsheets, APIs, etc.) and ensuring its accuracy, consistency, and completeness through cleaning and validation processes.
  • Data Modeling & Preparation: Designing and developing data models that facilitate analysis and reporting. This includes structuring data, defining relationships, and transforming it into a usable format for BI tools.
  • Data Analysis & Interpretation: Analyzing data to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and insights that can inform business decisions. This often involves using statistical techniques and BI tools to explore and interpret data.
  • Report & Dashboard Development: Creating compelling and user-friendly reports, dashboards, and visualizations that effectively communicate key findings and performance metrics to stakeholders.
  • Requirements Gathering: Collaborating with business users to understand their information needs and translate them into clear and actionable BI requirements.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Presenting findings, insights, and recommendations to various stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences, in a clear and concise manner.
  • Performance Monitoring: Developing and maintaining reports and dashboards to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor business performance over time.
  • Identifying Improvement Opportunities: Using data analysis to identify areas for business process improvement, cost reduction, revenue generation, and enhanced customer experience.
  • Documentation: Creating and maintaining documentation for data sources, data models, reports, and BI processes.
  • Staying Updated: Keeping abreast of the latest trends and technologies in business intelligence and data analytics.
  • Collaboration: Working closely with other teams, such as data engineers, IT, and business units, to ensure data availability and the effective delivery of BI solutions.
  • Ad-hoc Analysis: Responding to specific data requests and conducting ad-hoc analysis to answer business questions that arise.
  • Essentially, a BI Analyst acts as a bridge between data and business decisions, transforming raw data into actionable insights that drive strategic and operational improvements. They empower organizations to make informed decisions based on evidence rather than intuition
