Our mission is simple: End Cyber Risk. We’re looking for a Distinguished Engineer (Architect) to be part of making this happen.   

About the Role: 

As a Distinguished Engineer at Arctic Wolf, you are a member of the engineering team and will help lead the architectural and technical vision of Arctic Wolf's platform, products and service. In this role, you will work closely with product managers, engineers and other cross-functional stakeholders, product managers and engineers to design, build and maintain the architectural strategy for key initiatives, products or programs.  You will directly own and will be responsible for driving technology across multiple products, domains, and partnering closely with the teams that own the tech stack. You will be responsible for solving some of our and the cybersecurity industry’s most complex problems. You will be able to take ownership and drive fast. You will be tightly embedded versus being a consultant.

You, as a technical leaderare comfortable not only in the technological spaces you know but also at becoming adept in those you dont. You are the kind of leader who is willing to roll up your sleeves and help teams deliver. You can take the lead on POCs or spikes to ensure the success of your design or architecture. As a technical leader, you are expected to encourage innovation, speed, quality and ownership/accountability.  

The cloud technologies we use include microservices, Docker containers, Kubernetes, Kafka, SQS, real-time stream processing, data pipelines, relational and NoSQL databases, and data lake. We also deliver software to customers in the form of agents (mac,win,linux, mobile) and appliances (hardware and virtual). As is common in the industry, the use of AI is becoming second nature and, as such, you will be involved in embedding and using AI to empower our vision and roadmap. 

Some of the programs or tech you will work on include API design, schema design, system integration, data modeling, endpoint software design, system internals, multi-tenancy, access controls, and more depending on your architecture area and projects. 

As a technical leader you will be expected to partner with engineering on best practice and design. This could include HLD’s, DFD’s, mentoring on 12 factor app, and coding best practice.  

As senior leaders at Arctic wolf, we believe strongly in mentoring. In a key technical role, you will be expected to mentor more junior team members, actively helping them build career experience at Arctic Wolf. 

 Your responsibilities include:  

  • Help define and drive the vision and strategy in areas or programs assigned. 

  • Working across the product team and partners and stakeholders outside of the product team to define and execute on the area or

program that supports the company’s overall strategic vision. 

  • Owning the technical and architectural vision, product design and architectural decisions within your architecture area. 

  • Provide solutions to complex technical problems, often serving as a point of escalation for teams facing difficulties.  

  • Drive innovation across engineering and identify opportunities for technical and process improvements.  

  • Influence key technical decisions and advocate for best practices and technologies.  

  • Mentor junior engineers, guide teams, and help develop training programs. 

  • Develop a long-term vision for technology and its impact on the business. 

  • Analyzing, recommending, and developing POCs and prototypes of architecture designs, technologies, 3rd party tools and

Integrations. 

  • Providing technical oversight, guidance and coaching to product management, developers and engineers.  

  • Ensuring that our software meets all requirements of quality, security, modifiability, extensibility, performance etc.  

 

About You: 

 

You are an expert Engineer, Architect, Software Developer, or technical leader who can influence architecture across an entire department. You have proven technical leadership experience from previous projects, regardless of title held.  

 

You have been central in introducing novel and innovative solutions, have experience writing software, and have deep knowledge across multiple domains. You enjoy learning new concepts, technological research and experimentation. You are a mentor to technical leaders across multiple domains, and coach to engineers. You are comfortable communicating technical ideas to audiences of different skill levels. You create formal networks with key decision makers and are widely recognized as an expert and thought leader. 

 

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • Technical leadership: Proven history of successful projects.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Effectively identify and solve complex technical problems.  

  • Leadership and Influence: Lead and influence others, including senior management, through technical expertise and credibility.  

  • Collaboration: Work effectively with others, including engineers, product managers, and stakeholders.  

  • Emotional Intelligence: Understand and manage emotions and build strong relationships with others. Ability to partner effectively

and diffuse conflict. 

  • Visionary Thinking: Develop a long-term vision for technology and its impact on the business. 

  • Ability to Learn: Stay up to date on the latest technologies and trends. 

  • Experience in architecture: technical architecture, system architecture, solution architecture, and enterprise architecture. 

  • Experience in software development: Golang, Python, Java or a similar high-level language. 

  • Mastery Of: technical details, best practices, and design patterns across multiple domains. 

  • Previous security essential. We are looking for individuals with a passion for protecting customers and business. This is not something you learn overnight. 

  • Communication: ability to prepare and deliver technical materials at the level suitable to the audience in support of driving the

business forward.
