Job Summary:

Tessitura Network, a nonprofit technology company dedicated to helping arts and cultural organizations thrive, is seeking a Business Development Operations Manager in North America. This position is part of the Business Development team in Growth Group, whose primary aim is to deliver sustainable Tessitura community growth. A successful Business Development Operations Manager maintains team processes to build efficiency and effectiveness, resulting in a more effective and successful sales operation. This position oversees Tessitura’s lead qualification, communication, and maintenance; trade show operations; written positioning for responses to tenders and requests for proposals; maintains ongoing prospect research, qualification, and database management; and supports overall operational efforts.

The Growth group works collaboratively to drive sustainable community growth, position Tessitura’s products and services compellingly, and elevate and protect the Tessitura brand.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Oversee Tessitura’s inbound lead management.
    • Research, tag, respond to, and assign inbound sales leads to appropriate Business Development leads. Act as the first point of contact for incoming sales inquiries, routing non-sales inquiries to other departments as needed. In limited cases, connect directly with prospect organizations to determine qualification.
    • Handle Tessitura’s incoming calls to the Business Development phone line for follow up.
    • Ensure successful follow-up and reporting on lead activity by maintaining accurate data, categorization, and communication tracking in our internal CRM system.
  • Manage and oversee Tessitura’s trade show operations.
    • Manage Tessitura’s North American trade show materials, shipping logistics, operations, equipment rentals, internal project management, and other support as needed for all trade shows.
    • Provide planning support for trade shows in the EU/UK.
    • Coordinate preparation and planning in collaboration with colleagues for trade shows and industry events.
    • Track budget and maintain internal records for ongoing review of return on investment.
    • Renew annual business memberships on behalf of the team.
  • Partner with Business Development leads to respond to written requests for proposals with an aim to grow the Tessitura member community.
    • In collaboration with Business Development sales leads, create personalized written responses to requests for proposals (RFPs) that emphasize the relevant capabilities and benefits of Tessitura.
    • Maintain detailed records of sales efforts for current and future reference.
  • Strategically research prospective accounts for targeting and reactivation.
    • Handle ongoing prospect research efforts with regular updates and review of our internal CRM system.
    • Research leads to determine their overall market product fit.
    • Regularly review and qualify potential opportunities on tender & RFP listing sites.
    • Utilize tools for outbound sales efforts in alignment with Tessitura’s operational processes.
  • Project manage and provide support to ongoing Sales Operations efforts, ensuring iterative changes to processes are well-documented and easily accessible.
  • Develop reports and dashboards that support ongoing team business insights in the company’s CRM.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively internally across the Business Development team, Growth Group, and entire company.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively externally with prospective clients, partners, and industry professionals.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • 6+ years of experience in professional environments with detailed operational and/or project management capabilities
  • Ability to write clearly and persuasively
  • Organized and methodical process management capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and move projects forward

  • Proficient with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work calmly, effectively, and flexibly with a wide diversity of personalities
