Job Description

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The HRBP serves as a strategic Partner, understanding and being involved in the business and partnering with the leadership team on people-related decisions. Employee Champion—championing employees and delivering programs to foster engagement. Change Agent—acts as a liaison for change. Culture Creator—championing company culture.
Talent Developer – partners with leadership to develop talent and build future leaders.

The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the organization's business objectives. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture, and its competition. The HRBP performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the established USACS policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Location: Remote


The ideal candidate will be located in Central, Mountain or Pacific Time Zones and have experience and working knowledge of California Employment Law.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Conducts weekly meetings with respective business units.
  • Consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Directs disciplinary actions when appropriate.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Counsels leadership and employees in problem solving, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, and litigation avoidance
  • Partners with leadership on talent development and succession planning.
  • Partners with leadership on talent retention and engagement.  Utilizes survey data to action plan for improvement.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Interprets policies and assists leadership with the consistent execution of said policies.
  • This is a functional HR position requiring extensive knowledge of policies, procedures, state and federal employment laws (CRA -Title VII, FMLA, ADA, ADEA, FLSA, PDA, USERRA, GINA, DFWA, OSHA, Title IX) and strong conflict management skills in a high-volume environment
  • Monitors unemployment insurance and Workers Compensation
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies.
  • Ability to acquire a thorough understanding of the organization's hierarchy, jobs, qualifications, compensation practices, and the administrative practices related to those factors.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor's degree and 8+ years of Human Resources experience
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Prior experience working in a healthcare environment preferred
  • Advanced degree, and/or human resources professional certification preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods and occasionally walk, stand, bend, stoop, and lift up to 15 pounds. 
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform job

Salary Range:

$103,887.00 - $192,191.00

Salary may be determined on several factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, experience, education, geographical location and requirements stated in job description.
