The Role

 

The Strategic Capture Lead (Defence) is a newly created role as part of our growing sales team and is responsible for securing Envitia’s position on high-value Category A defence programmes. This role focuses on shaping and securing workshare in strategically UK defence important programmes.

 

It is a forward-leaning, campaign-driven role, requiring early engagement with MOD, prime contractors and delivery partners to influence programme direction and align Envitia’s capabilities to emerging customer needs.

 

Job Responsibilities 

 

  1. Strategic Programme Capture. Identify, prioritise, and lead 2–3 major strategic capture campaigns per annum, targeting multi-year, high-value MOD programmes.
  2. Upstream Engagement & Influence. Engage early with programme sponsors, clients and prime contractors to shape technical architectures, delivery models, and programme requirements in ways that favour Envitia's core offerings.
  3. Workshare Negotiation & Positioning. Secure Envitia’s role in strategic delivery consortia by negotiating teaming agreements or partner-led subcontracting arrangements with Tier 1 suppliers.
  4. End-to-End Campaign Management. Own the capture lifecycle from early opportunity shaping and intelligence gathering through to solution development, proposal leadership, and commercial negotiation.
  5. Strategic Partner Development. Establish and mature executive-level relationships with key delivery partners to embed Envitia as a trusted, differentiated SME delivery partner.
  6. Value Proposition Development. Develop tailored propositions that align Envitia’s geospatial, data, AI/ML and digital transformation capabilities to the specific needs of major MOD programmes.
  7. Cross-Functional Collaboration. Work closely with technical, delivery, and consulting colleagues to co-create win strategies, support pre-sales activities, and ensure seamless sales-to-delivery handover.
  8. Governance and Capture Discipline. Implement structured, repeatable, action-oriented capture planning methods for each strategic opportunity, ensuring internal visibility and leadership buy-in at key stages.

 

Skills Required 

 

Essential:


  • Strategic Defence Programmes Track Record. Demonstrable experience of capturing and winning work on MOD strategic programmes (Category A/B).
  • Defence Procurement. Deep understanding of defence procurement pathways and commercial constructs (including CPAs, DSTP, and DSP).
  • Defence Prime Contractor Relationships. Experience working within or alongside prime contractors and systems integrators.
  • Influence at a Senior Level. Track record of influencing strategic defence customers at senior levels.
  • Growth Strategy. Demonstrated strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a forward-looking approach to identifying and capturing new strategic business opportunities.
  • Structure Pursuit Leadership. Organised, methodical, and comfortable leading complex pursuits.

Desirable

 

  • Professional Sales Certification. APMP, Shipley or equivalent capture and proposal management qualifications preferred.

Security Clearance Requirements

 

The successful candidate must hold or be required to go through an SC security clearance, DV eligibility preferred.

 

Location

 

The role will require travel to our Horsham offices 2-4 days a month and travel to customer sites when required.
