Job description

Summary

We’re seeking a mission-driven Product Lead to define and drive the strategy for our revenue cycle management (RCM) capabilities, with a focus on unlocking the full value of operational data across the patient and provider journey. In this role, you will lead the development and delivery of scalable solutions that improve reimbursement yield, streamline billing workflows, and create a more transparent, efficient experience for patients, clinicians, and internal stakeholders.

This position is responsible for shaping how GeneDx captures, structures, and leverages data to support accurate insurance coverage, streamlined prior authorizations, clean claim submission, and timely payment processing. You will lead initiatives that surface key opportunities, define success metrics, and deliver high-impact solutions that enhance revenue performance. This includes simplifying complex workflows from order intake through payment, minimizing manual effort, accelerating reimbursement, and identifying opportunities for automation and scalability.

Success in this role requires a deep understanding of how technology, data, and process intersect within the healthcare billing ecosystem—and the ability to translate complex challenges into streamlined, data-driven solutions aligned with GeneDx’s long-term vision. By improving the quality and flow of information across revenue operations, you will contribute directly to stronger financial outcomes, more accessible genomic testing, and better-informed decision-making across the organization.

  • Lead cross-functional planning initiatives by collaborating closely with Billing Operations, Client Services, Finance, Market Access, and Engineering teams to ensure alignment and seamless execution of business-critical initiatives.
  • Stay current as a subject matter expert on the latest trends in RCM technologies, healthcare data standards, payer requirements, and customer market segments to inform product decisions.
  • Translate company strategy into scalable RCM features, services, and product capabilities that improve billing accuracy, reduce denials, and shorten time-to-payment.
  • Partner with Product Owners and delivery teams to define, scope, and launch product capabilities; deliverables may include market requirements, data flow maps, MVP plans, success metrics, and enablement materials
  • Define and track KPIs such as:
    • Prior authorization approval rate
    • First pass resolution rate (FRRR)
    • Reimbursement rate; insurance, test category, etc.
    • Order to billing turnaround time
    • Reduction in manual interventions/ billing errors
    • Volume of billing inquires submitted by providers and patients

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • 6+ years of experience in revenue cycle and reimbursement processes and systems in healthcare
  • 6+ years of product management experience, including 2+ years in B2B or clinician-facing tools and applications
  • Deep understanding of healthcare provider workflows; experience with diagnostic ordering, EMRs, and test interpretation tools preferred
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills paired with excellent execution and attention to detail.
  • Deep empathy for end users—providers, enterprise customers, patients, and caregivers— and a commitment to making their experience simpler, faster, and more empowering.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • High-quality testing: Our laboratory is CLIA certified and CAP accredited and most of our tests are also New York State approved.
  • Advanced detection: By interrogating genes for complex variants, we can identify the underlying causes of conditions that may otherwise be missed.

CLINICAL EXPERTISE

  • Thorough analysis: We classify variants according to our custom adaptation of the most recent guidelines. We then leverage our rich internal database for additional interpretation evidence.
  • Customized care: Our experts review all test results and write reports in a clear, concise, and personalized way. We also include information for research studies in specific clinical situations.
  • Impactful discovery: Our researchers continue working to find answers even after testing is complete. Through both internal research efforts and global collaborations, we have identified and published hundreds of new disease-gene relationships and developed novel tools for genomic data analysis. These efforts ultimately deliver more diagnostic findings to individuals.
