Location: Remote (Canada)
Essential Job Functions
Perform daily z/OS storage management activities, including SMS routines, DASD pool monitoring, and execution of housekeeping batch jobs.
Troubleshoot basic storage space issues and execute migrate/archive functions.
Implement routine storage configuration changes based on client requests, including volume additions and relocations.
Resolve JCL errors and perform associated corrective actions.
Create, maintain, and monitor core system backups to ensure data integrity.
Access and monitor IBM TS7700 grid environments.
Adhere to and execute incident, change, and problem management processes.
Implement and support new storage solutions based on evolving business requirements.
Lead disaster recovery (DR) drills and provide guidance to participating team members.
Create, configure, and manage SMS spools for storage administration.
Configure and support tape and DASD hardware devices at the device level.
Conduct peer reviews for all proposed or executed storage changes.
Administer storage-related software tools and platforms.
Configure and troubleshoot replication for tape and DASD environments.
Diagnose and resolve IBM grid failures; manage and monitor storage across multi-cluster, multi-location environments.
Lead storage restoration and recovery efforts during service outages.
Participate in a 24x7 on-call support rotation to ensure system availability.
Demonstrate working knowledge of GDPS for high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
Technical Expertise
Strong working knowledge of z/OS storage systems, including SMS, DASD, and tape technologies.
Hands-on experience with IBM TS7700 Virtual Tape System and grid management.
Proficient in JCL troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Experience leading DR drills and recovery initiatives in enterprise environments.
Familiarity with replication technologies and storage software administration.
Understanding of GDPS architecture and its application to enterprise disaster recovery.
Other Qualifications
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex mainframe storage environments.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
Proactive approach to storage operations, including peer review and process adherence.
Self-driven with the ability to take initiative in resolving storage-related incidents and implementing improvements.
Work Environment
Remote opportunity within Canada.
