Role description:

The BU Controller to partner with and support leadership in understanding their business through effective challenge and by providing insightful and accurate management information that will help improve business performance as well as accuracy of reporting. Provide effective financial management & control for the business unit.

The BU Controller Places reports directly to the BA Controller Places

Role accountabilities:

Act as a business partner to support the BU Director and BA Controller for decision-making:

  • Be a forward-looking, proactive Finance partner providing insightful advice and challenge to the business in all areas of performance.
  • Lead the development and completion of the financial plans and forecasts.
  • Track and report the financial performance of the BU in the country, ensuring integrity is maintained in all governance and compliance areas.
  • Provide insightful analysis on business performance and trends with a forward-looking lens and driving action as required across the business.
  • Coordinate and assess the quality of capex / investment proposals from the business inthe country.
  • Drive Working Capital performance to exceed targets.
  • Be an active participant and contributor in the sale and bid processes, assisting the leadership to drive profitable growth.
  • Be a champion for change.

Lead the Finance function:

  • Report financial KPIs, project, and P&L performance management reporting and analysis (profitability, net working capital, and cash flow) accurately and transparently, enabling effective decision making for Project Managers and Functional Management.
  • Coordinate the BU budget, develop outlook & forecast capabilities, and develop a mitigation plan to support target achievements.
  • Lead and develop the BU finance team to deliver value-adding services.
  • Provide Training to project managers and client teams on understanding financial metrics and using financial reporting tools.

Interact with the global finance team:

  • Contribute to the global Finance strategy with active involvement in the advancement of standardized, centralized, and automated processes across the entire function.
  • Roll out in the country- BA, the processes and methods are designed centrally.
  • Ensure standardization within the GBA and with other GBA’s avoiding customization of systems and processes.
  • Ensure maximum use of and alignment with all the GSSC Finance teams (eg, AP, AR, Accounting, Project accounting)
  • Ensure a high level of collaboration is maintained with the wider GBA Finance team, including other BU Controllers across all GBAs, Centres of Excellence, FP&A, and Group Control

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree and at least 5+ years of experience as a senior finance leader with broad experience in finance management and reporting in a global setting.
  • Experience in finance transformation and operational excellence processes, including leading and developing remote finance teams, and a thorough knowledge of project business and client needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) /MBA is a plus.

Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project, and location.
