BigBear.ai is seeking a Healthcare Data Engineer to join our Healthcare Professional Services team. As a Healthcare Data Engineer, you will utilize FutureFlowRx, which is a real-time, forward-looking patient census prediction and forecasting tool that allows nurse managers and staff planners to know in advance the most likely hospital census and patient placement over both short-term and long-term horizons. This position will work closely with the data analytics teams at hospitals.
The successful candidate will guide FutureFlowRx implementation projects from conception through final deployment. You will have exposure to multiple hospitals and hospital networks, coupled with the ability to directly influence client success, satisfaction, and retention.
What You Will Do
Collaborate and communicate with Stakeholders, Product Owners, Quality Assurance and other teams in an agile work environment, including but not limited to design meetings, planning, stand ups, & retrospectives.
Extensive communication with hospital personnel utilizing project management experience.
Translate business and functional requirements into technical specifications and delivery plans.
Develop, validate and apply algorithms and predictive models to streamline patient flow, investigate problems, detect patterns and recommend solutions.
Collect and query data to perform analysis and provide reporting as needed by various departments for insight and support for decision making.
Perform data analysis required to troubleshoot data related issues and assist in the resolution of data and customer issues.
Collaborate with other BigBear.ai departments to design and launch new features.
Travel will be required as needed to support deployments of our solutions.
What You Need To Have
Bachelor's Degree and 5 to 8 years of experience in Computer Science, Healthcare Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field
Experience with Electronic Medical Records systems such as EPIC or Cerner
Excellent collaboration, innovation, and problem-solving skills
Ability to engage with both the business and technical teams of a client - to document and explain technical problems or concepts concisely
Passionate about providing high quality, impactful solutions to real business opportunities and challenges
What We'd Like You To Have
5+ years of experience in a Data Engineering role.
Experience in large-scale system implementation efforts following a standard software development lifecycle approach (scrum desired).
Experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling/mapping, methodology development and data modeling.
Proficiency in SQL programming.
Proficiency in at least one programming language (C#, Python, etc.) and experience writing code to handle data manipulation, scheduling, event-based triggering, and automation tasks.
Experience with PowerBI or reporting in workbench with EPIC.
