ROLE SUMMARY
The Advanced Medical Solutions Lead will serve as both a player and coach, responsible for performing the below tasks and managing a team of Advanced Medical Engagement and Clinical Informatics colleagues who do the following:
- Identify and lead complex medical engagements and collaborations. This role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to design, implement, and oversee innovative medical projects aimed at improving patient outcomes and advancing healthcare quality.
- Bridge the gap between clinical practice and information technology. This role also involves managing and analyzing clinical data to improve patient care, enhance healthcare delivery, and ensure the efficient operation of health information systems.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Collaboration:
- Maintain excellent working relationships with other leaders across the organization, including Field Medical Outcomes, Field Medical Directors (FMDs)), Key Account Managers (KAMs), and Account Directors (ADs). Engage organized customers on complex, innovative engagements, including non-interventional, pragmatic, or low-interventional studies, quality improvement projects, and healthcare professional (HCP) consultations from project inception through publication.
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Digital teams, and other stakeholders to develop HIT/clinical informatics strategies that support advancing patient care quality, medication adherence, and patient access.
Project Direction and Guidance:
- Advise field account team colleagues on project direction and provide support for both HQ-initiated and customer-initiated collaborative research projects. Lead initial assessments, triage opportunities for Brand Medical review, and assess organizational capabilities and feasibility.
Cross-Functional/External Coordination:
- Maintain excellent cross-functional working relationships and management representation with relevant HQ colleagues to advance projects. This includes Legal/contracting, Medical, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), Statistics, Regulatory, and Brand Commercial teams.
- Identifies and fosters external CI and digital innovation opportunities through participation in national professional organizations and CI/HIT conferences that can be leveraged for potential Pfizer collaboration.
Advanced Data Analytics:
- Collect, document, and analyze clinical data to assess its quality, meaning, and integrity. Use advanced analytics and statistical solutions to identify and interpret patterns and trends in complex datasets
- Provide guidance in advanced data analytics, including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and predictive analytics within projects and studies, in close coordination with Clinical Informatics and Data Science.
Medical Account Planning:
- Lead the development of an advanced Medical Annual Account Plan that aligns with and informs the broader enterprise Payer Account Plan. Represent Medical Affairs, share strategic medical insights from customers, and identify opportunities for collaboration to improve patient care.
- Navigates strategy and planning for HCP & patient facing digital concepts to ensure clinical medical/intent, approach, feasibility, desirability, alignment with Pfizer strategy, support of legal/regulatory requirement
Compliance and Quality Improvement:
- Ensure projects are compliant with regulations and contribute to the body of evidence through publications and scientific dissemination.
- Provide medical leadership in external interactions in the HIT standards setting activities for Pfizer U.S., including working with governmental agencies and Pfizer policy and government relations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
- Terminal Doctorate Degree, PharmD or PhD preferred
- Graduated from a U.S. accredited Healthcare Program, College of Pharmacy, or equivalent
- A minimum of 7 or more years of relevant experience including clinical patient care, quality improvement, medical account management, Health Economics & Outcomes Research including strong methodological skills (study design, data analysis, and interpretation)
- Strong understanding of medical strategy, study design, data analysis, and interpretation.
- Experience leading a matrix organization with the ability to manage without direct authority
- Strong strategic thinking skills, as evidenced by the ability to identify alternative scenarios, resulting implications, and development of pragmatic recommendations for direction or action
- Strong written and verbal communication influencing skills to address leadership and external audiences
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with advanced data analytics and digital health technologies is a plus.
- 10+ years pharmaceutical medical account management
- Field Medical experience strongly preferred
- Residency, clinical and/or management experience preferred
- Advanced data analytics and outcomes research experience strongly preferred
- Track record of developing technology and data partnerships that unlock value a plus
- Ability to network and build partnerships/collaborations with external parties, often at senior levels of customers and partner organizations strongly preferred
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Operate a Pfizer company car and regularly fly on airplanes (i.e. attend HCP/customer meetings; attend NYHQ meetings, etc. required; proximity to airline ‘hub’ city); maintain flexibility to travel approximately 50% of time.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $219,800.00 to $366,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 25.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
