Position Summary:
The Speech Language Pathologist will provide virtual speech therapy to students K-12 enrolled at Reach Cyber Charter School. They will connect with students using webcams and web conferencing software, while using the Reach's online Education Management System to manage his/her caseload and minimize paperwork.
 
The Speech Language Pathologist will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
  • Provide high quality speech language services to assigned students while supporting program implementation
  • Planning and implementing individual and group therapy in a virtual environment
  • Be an expert on school and state specific policies and procedures
  • Conduct speech and language screenings for referred students
  • Provide a comprehensive evaluation of speech and language skills as part of the multidisciplinary team evaluation/reevaluation for referred and enrolled children/students
  • Participate as a member of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) planning team, providing recommendations for instruction in the areas of speech and/or language
  • Report on child/student progress as per program
  • Special Education case management of select students whose only special education need is speech therapy; this will include scheduling, organizing and conducting IEP related meetings in a virtual environment, as needed
  • Meet as necessary with parents/guardians/family members to confer on child/student progress
  • Act as a consultant and resource to Reach Staff, Reach vendors, and agency personnel and to parents and families regarding speech and language development, including implications of a speech and language disability and therapy
  • Recommend assessment instruments, instructional materials, and equipment for purchase; prepare purchase orders for/purchase equipment, instructional materials, and other items as directed
  • Maintain a knowledge base of current information in the field of speech and language development and communication disorders to facilitate the delivery of a quality and comprehensive clinical program
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in the Reach’s Education Management System and special education software
  • Read, on a regular basis, current professional literature available in the area of communication disorders
  • Attend conventions, workshops, and in-service programs offering information on communication development and disabilities
  • Attend and participate in staff and team meetings as appropriate
  • Assume any other responsibilities as assigned
Education/Qualifications
  • Minimum Education/Certification:
    • MA or MS in Speech Language Pathology and ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence
    • Valid state and/or Department of Education Licensure in Speech Pathology
  • Experience Requirements:
    • 2+ years experience in K-12 school setting
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Strong technology skills
  • High degree of flexibility and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
