A U.S.-based staffing platform headquartered in San Francisco and dedicated to supporting fire departments is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join their growing team and take ownership of critical backend challenges.
Responsibilities:
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design and deliver new features.
● Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code with a focus on performance and scalability.
● Ensure that the platform is optimized for both desktop and mobile devices.
● Contribute to architecture discussions, technology decisions and code reviews.
● Improve deployment and monitoring tools using Kubernetes on AWS.
● Troubleshoot and optimize the platform for efficiency and reliability.
What you’ll bring to the table:
● At least 4 years of experience in software development, ideally in large-scale systems with high user volume.
● Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Django (and Python in general).
● Strong experience designing and building scalable systems using technologies like Redis, DynamoDB, Hive, Celery, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes.
● Professional-level English, both spoken and written — this role involves frequent communication with U.S.- based teammates and clients.
● Technical leadership: Proven ability to lead initiatives, collaborate across large engineering teams, and communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders.
● Customer-facing mindset: Comfortable joining customer calls to understand pain points and contribute to long-term technical planning.
