Position Summary

Accepting applications for the 2025-2026 school year.  The Special Populations Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the success of students with IEPs, 504 plans, and ELL needs in a virtual learning environment. This position serves as a key liaison between school districts, teachers, and internal teams to ensure accommodations are accurately implemented and student needs are met. The coordinator manages all communication and documentation related to special populations, attends IEP and 504 meetings, supports teachers with instructional strategies and resources, and maintains up-to-date student data across multiple platforms. By leveraging strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills, the Special Populations Coordinator fosters collaboration by promoting equitable access and ensuring compliance with special education guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • The Special Populations Support Specialist will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks: 
  • Serve as the primary liaison between districts and teachers for special populations, responding to all district communications, feedback requests, and inquiries within 24 hours.
  • Coordinate and attend IEP/504 meetings, providing information about accommodations, teacher feedback, and logging meeting details.
  • Support teachers with accommodation implementation by providing timely answers to questions, hosting office hours, and sharing instructional strategies tailored for the virtual environment.
  • Create, maintain, and share resources such as accommodation guides, how-to videos, student tools, and platform-specific implementation instructions to support both teachers and students.
  • Review, analyze, and manage student documentation (IEPs, 504s, ELL plans) and update the master spreadsheet and internal dashboards multiple times per week.
  • Monitor and follow up on teacher feedback for meetings, ensuring responses are high-quality, student-centered, and submitted on time.
  • Collaborate with districts to clarify accommodations, ensuring accuracy in virtual translation and alignment with student needs and district expectations.
  • Track and analyze student performance using efficacy reports and share insights with teachers and district partners to drive data-informed support strategies.
  • Maintain and update internal communication tools, including the Teacher Dashboard and Special Populations slide deck.
  • Contribute to ongoing professional development efforts, sharing trends, success stories, and instructional tips to improve outcomes for special populations across content areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Highly qualified and certified to teach Special Education with a valid state teaching certificate
  • Must have completed traditional teacher preparation program (not alternative certification) at an accredited college or university.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to obtain certification in other states as requested 
  • Provide feedback to students in a timely manner and grade assessments within the required timeframe 
  • Attend check-in meetings with your supervisor twice per month (or as scheduled) 
  • Able to work a full-time shift that covers core business hours, from 10 am - 4 pm Eastern time

Capabilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in fast-paced environment that requires significant flexibility, effective prioritization of tasks, self-direction, and creativity
  • Understanding of IEP/504 plans and how they can be implemented in a virtual setting
  • Strong technology skills (proficiency with Microsoft Office programs or Google Apps is preferred) 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong time management and organizational skills
  • Customer focused approach and commitment to student achievement 

Note: The minimum salary for full-time individuals expressing interest in this position begins at $39,500 per year.
