Job Description:

This vital role, located in London, England has dual responsibilities within both Regulatory Risk Canada and Risk Mgmt UK. You will report functionally to the Associate Vice President, Regulatory Risk in Toronto and locally to the Head of Operational Risk Management, in London. As Manager in this role, you will cultivate a strong relationship between the Canadian Regulatory Risk Team and the Europe and Asia-Pacific (EAP) regional Risk Management team.

Department Overview – Reg Risk (Toronto, CAN):

The Regulatory Risk Team is responsible for working with all three lines of defense to ensure that we are actively and transparently participating in OSFI's supervisory activities, as well as for non-US prudential regulators. The management of Regulatory Risk is to mitigate potential regulatory constraints which could affect TD’s ability to achieve its business objective and successfully execute our strategy.

As regulatory subject matter experts we:

  • Provide advice and counsel on regulatory management and new initiatives within the bank that have a regulatory impact
  • Monitor emerging regulatory developments throughout TD’s footprint and communicate these to internal stakeholders
  • Partner with groups undergoing regulatory examination through centralized management of regulatory information requests, attending meetings with regulators as required and providing advice and counsel as necessary.

Department Overview – Risk Mgmt (London, UK):

The risk management team, reporting regionally into the EAP Chief Risk Officer (CRO) enables risk management in line with the TD Bank Group (TDBG) Enterprise Risk Management Framework.  TDBG, as a global organization must comply with Laws, Rules and Regulations within its global footprint. Regulatory compliance is supported through the Enterprise-wide Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) program.    This role will support the EAP CRO and regional risk teams in meeting RCM requirements.  The successful candidate will also coordinate SME input for ad hoc regulatory exams and / or requests.

Job Description

You will assist the Regional Risk Team and related business leadership as they assess risk, comply with regulations and participate in supervisory activities. This position requires an individual who is a strong relationship-builder, communicator, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while delivering at a high level of quality.

  • Support the businesses / functions in preparing to undergo regulatory examinations by various global regulators.
  • Assist with the regulatory examination process by preparing documents, monitoring and tracking deliverables and collation and delivery of submissions to the regulators.
  • Develop a deep understanding of RCM program requirements and assist the regulatory Risk team(s) in complying with requirements.
  • Develop and publish monthly regulatory reports covering key regulators in the Europe / Asia Pacific region.
  • Lead Monthly regulatory risk meetings with leaders globally.
  • Prepare briefing notes and summary of regulatory speeches and public statements for the SVP, Regulatory Risk and EAP CRO for onward distribution to SET/Boards/Regional Management Oversight Committees.
  • Gather and publish regulatory changes, globally, via the daily news, to be published every day by 8am EST.
  • Proactively track the status of all deliverables and actions due internally and externally and work with the team to ensure due dates are met. This includes analyzing and reviewing deliverables to ensure quality and completeness against requirements and standards and escalating as required.
  • Organize and deliver communications to regulators/related associations and TD Bank Group Businesses.  Within the EAP Region, this function will be coordinated with other established communication and delivery roles across the business and Compliance.
  • Support regular reporting and informal requests required by the regulators to ensure consistency and timeliness of the completion of the deliverables.
  • Support other related activities.

  • 5 years’ experience in Risk Management within the financial industry
  • Strong project management skills

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Previous relationship management skills preferred
  • Ability to excel in a fast pace environment
  • Excellent MS skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Enjoys working in a team environment but also able to work independently
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand and interpret policies
  • Experience in a regulatory environment preferred
  • Ability to use influencing skills to implement changes an asset
  • Ability to manage conflict and build consensus within TD an asset
