Why was Harpin AI built?
The Harpin AI team has spent decades building software for renowned customer-facing brands. Time and again, one challenge kept cropping up: Managing identity and PII data securely and efficiently, with a goal to maximize its value to the business.

With the explosion of cloud-based systems of records, massive disparate data sets, and privacy and compliance changes, it has become increasingly difficult to wrangle PII, let alone use it to make smarter business decisions.

Our clients would ask, “How can we make our data accessible, easier to use, visually compelling and more accurate?” We decided to tackle this head-on. The answer wasn’t yet another data platform – we wanted to enhance the value of the systems of records that were already out there. Companies had already invested so much in mission-critical systems and we knew that to be successful we would need to leverage what they already had. And so, harpin AI was born: a set of smart workflow-based tools that improves data quality and access.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Applied Scientist / Machine Learning Engineer to join Harpin AI, where we’re building cutting-edge AI solutions that transform how businesses make decisions and take action. You will design and implement advanced algorithms and machine learning models that power our toolset, enabling customers to uncover insights and automate complex workflows. This role involves working with large datasets, leading end-to-end model development, and integrating the latest techniques in areas like deep learning and LLMs. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with Harpin AI’s mission of driving intelligent, data-driven outcomes. Strong programming skills, a passion for innovation, and a mentoring mindset are essential as we scale our technology and team.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement advanced algorithms and build machine learning models to solve complex business problems, enabling actionable insights.
  

• Analyze large and complex datasets to identify patterns, trends, and correlations that drive data-driven decision making.
  

• Lead end-to-end model development processes, including data preprocessing, feature engineering, model selection, and performance evaluation.
  

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and data scientists, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  

• Utilize your strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or similar, to implement and optimize algorithms and models for scalability and performance.
  

• Conduct extensive experimentation and analysis to assess model performance, identify areas for improvement, and iterate on existing models.
  

• Stay current with the latest advancements in applied science, machine learning, and algorithm design, including but not limited to LLMs, integrating new techniques and methodologies into our solutions.
  

• Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
  

Requirements

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. 5+ years of relevant work experience. Experience in a startup company environment is a plus. 
  

• Deep passion for data and analytics, with a strong problem-solving and analytical mindset.
  

• Solid background in algorithm design, optimization, and advanced mathematical concepts.
  

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or similar, with a focus on writing efficient and scalable code.
  

• Proven experience in developing and deploying machine learning models in real-world applications.
  

• Extensive knowledge of various machine learning techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning.
  

• Solid understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation methodologies.
  

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  

• Experience working in an agile development environment and a track record of delivering high-quality results on time.
